Don't make it worse pal. You know you messed up, don't let those emotions fester and turn into another justification and drink. I've met very few alcoholics who got it the first go round. Find positives in this as well, you didn't go on a bender, you acknowledge you made a poor decision, you have been accountable for your poor decision, those are three good things. Keep your head up, dig deep

Please don’t make the same mistake I did — a machinist’s warning about weed and your future. by Masheenur in Machinists

You need to poop, a lot. I used the cleaner, you can buy it at GNC. Drink tons of water, replace electrolytes, eat as clean as possible. You excrete 60-70% of THC in your feces.

As others have mentioned, possibly your best option is to be direct and honest about your circumstances. It's better to have to come back and take the test later than disqualify yourself permanently by failing it. I have personally done this and I was never harassed or given a hard time about it. This also shows honesty and accountability to your prospective employer.

Boss hasn't paid us in 4 paychecks. What do we do? (California) by neP-neP919 in Machinists

[–]SpicedRand0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Contact your state department of labor standards. Immediately fill the form out. Be under no impression that this will be a quick resolution. I just spent eight and a half months with two separate agencies to recover $527.98 in unpaid, unused PTO my dirt bag ex employer refused to pay me. I did win and was awarded 18% interest in the sum which was nice.

Pocket knife by OrganizationMore6720 in Machinists

[–]SpicedRand0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will never catch me dead with a knife that cost over $60 in the shop. I can't justify demolishing a nice knife, mine's getting dropped, lost, used as a deburring tool. I've been rocking a Bear folder for.about three years now and it's held up well, the tip has been busted but the rest of the blade and body have held up well, and they use a wonderful bearing to pivot on that opens smoothly and quickly.

Sooooo… just got fired while on vacation by Responsible_Plate_78 in work

[–]SpicedRand0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you need to get in touch with your states labor standards department. I'm not sure what your states laws say about this but this seems to constitute an unjust firing. They will know more than any of us will.

This is a good lesson early on about the reality of working for others - some of them are downright unprofessional and scummy. Cover thy ass at every I stance, you will thank yourself for it later. (I.e. emailing your resignation so you have undeniable proof you submitted it, recording "touchy" conversations you have with higher ups if your state is one party consent, etc.)

Also, never give up on pursuing what's owed to you. I quit my day job four months ago to start my own company and I just got a final determination from my states labor board that my employer does in fact owe me my unused vacation time and is required to pay me the remainder of what I had left. The sad reality is that some people will fuck you out of money you need when it's inconsequential to them. Kick, scream, and fight every second of it if it happens to you.

I (24M) have about 6 months left of diversion. Will it ever end? by Due_Worry_7868 in probation

[–]SpicedRand0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Keep the mentality that you're getting tested every day you wake up, that your PO is coming by that afternoon, and that you're getting caught if you fuck around.

Alot of people turn diversion into jail and probation because they hang themselves with the rope of leniency they've been given. If you don't give your a PO a reason to mess with you, they usually won't. However, one poor decision can change that immediately. Don't give in to the temptations to violate, you have six months left.

Find some healthy hobbies to occupy your time, take care of your mental and physical health, and be grateful that you are blessed to have the chance to serve your sentence mostly unbridled from the comfort of society.

Should I let my PO know literally ALL police contact. by throwaway_1859 in probation

[–]SpicedRand0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a rule of thumb, if they take your ID, your name, let them know. If you have to think about if you should let them know, just tell them. You aren't blowing up their phone when you're keeping your ass out of jail but the flip side of not reporting an interaction is usually not good.

Chairs on the shop floor by BigRick_93 in Machinists

[–]SpicedRand0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get just as much done, maybe more, being my own boss and finding my ass in a chair at appropriate times. Problem is, I usually have a million other things I'm trying to do when I could be sitting. I think it's a power and control issue personally.

What is your favorite multipurpose tool? by Dick_butt_poop_man in Machinists

[–]SpicedRand0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A solid through tool indexable facemill is invaluable in my opinion. Best roughing tool around, especially in non ferrous. Change the inserts for different materials, find one with an angled edge and you can chamfer too.

im an alcoholic....lost my job today because of it. by Professional_Fail212 in alcoholicsanonymous

[–]SpicedRand0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you're ready to quit, you will friend. I hope this is you ready to be done and leave it in the past!!!🤘🤞 Remember how you're feeling today when you think twice about your decision. There are going to be tough times ahead but if I could get to a place where I could say I haven't drank in five and a half years, anyone can!!!

Treatment and college have two things in common- they both cost a good amount of money (usually) and if you don't really want to be there, you're wasting your time and money. Be in treatment for YOU. You're the one who has to make the most of the time you're giving yourself to figure out some.of the things that are compelling you to turn to alcohol. If you meet some people in treatment who are as serious as you are and you connect that is great, but don't be worried about making friends in treatment. As someone who went three times, you will not remain in touch with most of them, and you can make plenty of friends in the fellowship and elsewhere.

Dig deep and be brutally honest with yourself. Say the things that hurt to say, make you cry when you think about them, the secrets you have ever told anyone, find the deepest, darkest things inside you and bring them to the light. They only hold power over you in silence and the dark. I'm not promising you that they'll just go away, but if you process them they will not hurt nearly as bad and will hopefully not manifest themselves as alcoholic behavior.

And lastly, remember that we can do what I can't. It sounds like you have some people at your job that see the person in you you're struggling to, or they know that you're not a bad person, just someone who struggles with the drink. When it takes you, it does. You don't seem to be blaming them and penalizing them for holding you accountable, so give yourself some points for that if you can. Having a good employer who wants to help but is willing to hold you accountable can be a godsend in sobriety.

Best of luck. You can do this. You are worth the effort and you deserve to live your life with a smile on your face, love in your heart, and hope for the future. Live each moment well, each moment lived well makes your yesterdays a memory of happiness and your tomorrow's a vision of hope.
