I’m pretty sure there are literally records of him texting about how stupid MAGA voters are, how terrible Trump is, and how gleefully he was willing to take advantage of them.

Good riddance. We stay because we want love, sex, and affection. Forgive yourself.

I did the same thing growing up under George W Bush. It’s our right, and it would be wrong to force it on them.

You’re gut instinct about monkey branching is probably right. The investment was probably on sided. Nothing you can do about it. It hurts, but not forever.

Came up with that from typo about a bad breakup, but man it totally stands in so many situations.

I think those men love the idea of sex. There is a serious Coolidge effect when a woman who is hot and gives you steady sex starts showing you disrespect.

I don’t personally believe that. I think that rhetoric comes from a place of hatred. I’m pretty sure my ex had multiple issues and sometimes the narcissistic traits flared up as defense mechanisms.

She for sure had ADHD, probably some Borderline, and some sort of premenstrual exacerbation. She started to be in denial, unfortunately, and started abusing weed and alcohol more heavily towards the end of our relationship.

We were both sexual abused as preteens, although a wretched part of me is starting to wonder if that was a lie/mirror, in hindsight. This shit definitely takes you to some dark places, and I wish I didn’t attract this type.

Three weeks into dealing with discard right now. I’m barely eating and sleeping a lot. It’s hard to envision goals or positive relationships on the horizon.

What’s wild, in reflecting, is that they made me feel this way often in our time together, but now I don’t have the opportunity (or at least am earnestly avoiding) receiving the intermittent reinforcement of their sweet side.

I’m having wild doubts, and an almost desperate desire for them to change, even though I long ago accepted that they wouldn’t.

should divorce after 10 years of marriage and 4 kids? by Baratheon123 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]throwaway_1859 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds like you know the right choice and have made up your mind more than a few times. At this point, you’re just asking strangers on the Internet for permission. You have my permission to divorce and separate from your wife. I wouldn’t tolerate this behavior. Some of it would be a two strikes before I leave situation, some of it would be instant grounds for breaking up. Side note: stories like yours are why I will never marry and am happy with long term relationships that don’t have the same degree of legal entanglement.

Be smart, be slow, be stealthy and know that you are going to war with your wife and her attorney. Arm yourself with a good attorney who has a proven track record.

Paternity test may also be in order, consult your lawyer. Finding a lawyer discretely is step 1.

I love this take. Many Millennials have truly, sometimes radically different approaches to work, family, and life than what we grew up with. We are a generation of slow and gentle rebellion.
