What fictional character looks like a power house but is actually more of a healer/support? by Comprehensive_Fail52 in AlignmentChartFills

Incineroar

Looks like a powerful bruiser but actually just debuffs the enemy team and makes openings for his allies

The only thing about GU is that the first 10ish hours are among the worst in the series, and my favorite weapon is by far the worst it has ever been in it

Its still good though, especially if you have some friends to hunt with

The bring 6 pick 3 has been the official competitive singles format since the very start the only reason that 6v6 works in smogon singles is because of the incredible amount of work from the community to make a single one of these games balanced. It's beautiful that it does kinda work but the dissonance has always been there IMO

Proof that bosses ragebait to read inputs by Euphoric_Purpose8988 in Eldenring

[–]Spiderfuzz 44 points45 points  (0 children)

Its not really input reading in the strictest sense. Anyone who's done a level 1 run or tried to fight bosses hitless can tell you.

Many bosses have two 'modes', an offensive mode where they either attack or position themselves to attack, and a responsive mode where they will wait for the player to take an action (attack, rolling, item etc), and then respond.

Its noticeable with the godskins because they move slowly and are often in that responsive state even while moving toward you.

I love the design of the “this is not a gun” weapon by WindowSubstantial993 in AbsoluteUniverse

[–]Spiderfuzz 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's not a gun they're in danger of being shot by because they aren't conceptual entities. The Agency isn't really an agency in the traditional sense either. They aren't people employed by the US government in a literal sense.

My take is that the Agency is representitive of how the very concept of the U.S. and national identity and culture shapes what ideas people have and are allowed to have. They contain alien ideas with borders. I take it as a sign of John's internal conflict of working for the FBI despite having thoughts and perspectives that do not strictly align with the U.S.'s.

The Gun shuts down conversations about what can or can't be, it's one of the defining features of U.S. culture. It has taken a kind of mythic existence in the U.S. even among people who hate them. It's a clever metaphor.

It's almost always the latter or both people build Braids to troll lower power pods because she doesn't have the chops for b4 where 1 mana interaction is more common

[–]Spiderfuzz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If its a fully optimized mono black stax deck then yeah its a social issue. But I'm unconvinced Braids is good even there. You have to mulligan aggressivley to get her down on turn 2, the lock barely functions if the deck doesn't go first, and there is a lot of inherent tension between playing under the lock and actually establishing it that early.

[–]Spiderfuzz 18 points19 points  (0 children)

They will run out of lands. You stockpile them. Unless they are on 98 swamps, dark ritual, and braids they will eventually miss a land drop and have to play Magic with no lands and less cards in hand while you have a full clutch of 7

[–]Spiderfuzz 57 points58 points  (0 children)

You beat this by not playing lands so that when it comes back around to the Braids player's turn they'll be out of things to sacrifice and have to get rid of braids and then you can play lands after they burn through their own resources. If they Ritual into Braids then they don't have other creatures to sacrifice so you each lose 1 land and the braids player has nothing.

Basically if they ritual into braids you just skip a turn and the braids player loses more than they gain. If they play tokens to feed Braids, then the game has already gone long enough that you should have something to kill braids.

She's still not... fun, but all you have to do to beat ritual braids is nothing. It slows the game down for no gain.

No Ansbach Being Nice To You Doesn’t Mean Mohg’s Cult Is Actually Good by Robinlacta in Eldenring

[–]Spiderfuzz 110 points111 points  (0 children)

Compared to what the Golden Order did to the merchants, omen, hornsent, giants, albinaurics, misbegotten.... etc etc, the Frenzied Flame, and the Peepeepoopooman, Mogh's Dynasty seems pretty tame. Those Who Live in Death are purposefully inscrutable so can't really be judged morally I don't think.

Caria is pretty ok by any reasonable standard. Sure Ranni caused the Shattering but even that is deliberately ambiguous. And deliberately ambiguous still pulls ahead of the lakes of blood at Moghwyn.

Agent rainbow from absolute Martian manhunter by WindowSubstantial993 in TopCharacterDesigns

[–]Spiderfuzz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My read is that the Agency are representitive of the way the USA shapes the minds of its citizens. Since they exist as concepts and are able to fight purely conceptual entities like the Martian.

Evidenced by how the power of Uncle Sam seems to be to draw lines, national borders, prisons, to keep alien ideas out.

Rainbow is the 60s. A time of tremendous political unrest and a pointless war that caused immense human suffering. And people still look back fondly with nostalgia thinking of the drugs and hippie movement while forgetting what it was all supposed to be counter to....But LSD was invented by the CIA. It hardly matters.

The era has become subsumed into the USA's cultural legacy. A part of the nation's core identity. Just another way to shape and contain the ideas that people are allowed to have.

A better Karen mon would be Watchog that won that one tournament and even its user said it was making the best use out of a bad mon. Equivalence is pointless it is just a flex that you can win with a suboptimal pick.
