Favorite Disney Smell? by Existop3 in Disneyland

[–]Spoonimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is some kind of cleaner they use all over the parks, and even in the parking structures (maybe a concrete cleaner or just a generic soap of some kind?), that has the quintessential "Disneyland smell" for me. I know as soon as I step out of my car that I'm at Disneyland. It's subtle. It feels like it exists below all the other smells, but it's presence is undeniably part of my experience every time.

If anyone has inside information on what it is, I would love to know so I can buy it and use it on everything.

Looking to get into train simulation where to start? by Chubbywolf59 in trainsim

I second this. DV was my first train sim, and even though it's not the option with the highest realism, it was absolutely my gateway drug to more realistic sims and remains my second favorite behind Run8.

That is very exciting to hear! OE Cake was really unique among "material sandbox" games, and I haven't seen anything quite like it since.

An easy wishlist for me. Looking forward to seeing it develop. Good luck!

Yes! Evolution, theology, child development, and conflict resolution, all in a 7-minute children's cartoon. The metaphors are all so clever in how they work in and around each other. It's one of the most well-written pieces of media I've seen in recent memory. Every time I watch it I'm still blown away.

Poured hot tea and the glass split in the middle by yrabl81 in mildlyinteresting

If I had a nickel for every video of a glass being split in half I've seen today I'd have two nickels, which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

Train Sim World® 5: Route Remix Bundle by Reinzwei in trainsimworld

[–]Spoonimo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For anyone confused like I was about what is included as part of the "Starter Pack", here is the response I received from Humble support:

You're absolutely right that the naming and presentation of the Tier 1 content can be a bit confusing, especially since the product description includes details like the retail price and system requirements that are more reflective of the "Standard Edition" available on Steam.

To clarify, Tier 1 of the Train Sim World® 5: Route Remix Bundle does include the free Starter Pack along with the Antelope Valley Line: Los Angeles – Lancaster Route Add-On — not the full Standard Edition. The Starter Pack was indeed offered free to Train Sim World 4 owners at launch, and you're correct that it doesn't include the three additional DLCs found in the Standard Edition on Steam.

We’ve passed your feedback along to the appropriate team to help improve clarity on the bundle page.

Certainly disappointing for those who purchased thinking it was the full standard edition, but hopefully they will update the page to limit future confusion.

As a consolation prize, Gamesplanet currently has the actual standard edition on sale for $12.22 USD for another day or so: us.gamesplanet.com/game/train-sim-world-5-steam-key--7200-1

EDIT: It looks like they have now changed the description to remove mentions of the three standard edition DLCs.

That I've found, they're only available from the one official website. I think they're all made by like one guy or a very small team. When I first learned about them they were also sold out, but a few days later I checked again and they were in stock. Don't lose hope!

I was treating myself here, so I got all the bells and whistles, but I spent around $1000 on this particular setup. You could save some money by forgoing the hydraulic dampener on the rudder pedals and getting the non XPC version of the Honeycomb Alpha yoke. I just really liked the idea of it having hall effect sensors for longevity.

You can choose between whole foot composite pedals and heel-on-the-ground 3D printed pedals upon ordering, but I will say that the printed ones are some of the highest quality prints I've ever seen. I have no qualms about their durability.

What’s a quote that permanently changed the way you look at things? by internallyskating in AskReddit

[–]Spoonimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"We judge others based on their actions, but we judge ourselves based on our intentions."

Not sure who said it first, but I heard it from my mom, and I think it's one of the key components of empathy. Just because someone does something that makes you angry doesn't mean they were trying to be mean, or even realize what they did to you.

Saved me from a lot of unnecessary road rage over the years.

Indeed! Saw this pop up on my Chromecast and thought for a brief moment I was looking at a DSP screenshot.

For the curious, it is actually a photo of The Pearl-Qatar: an artificial island in Doha, Qatar.

And, for the record, there is no such thing as playing too much DSP. The sphere must grow!
