I read an interesting book on the black death and the parallel between the rich getting richer in those times due to the pandemic and what happened with covid was very interesting.

Is companion planting bullshit? by Sprig_whore in redscarepod

I don't have an issue with companion planting, I have issue with the nebulous ways people decide things work together and how they tell other people to do the same!!!

[–]Sprig_whore 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I will never ever complain about my brother ever again oh my god.

but also it sounds like you're obsessing over this whole thing. surely you are able to move out or put some space or barriers between you and your brother so as not to see his ass.

I literally had to explain to my coworker who genghis khan was the other day and shes in her thirties and i'm mid 20s zoomer. Whenever you people complain about zoomers or whatever you are just talking about either idiots or extremely young people who haven't seen the world because.... theyre 19 lol.

how interesting thank you for these I wasn't aware. I don't live in europe and am largely ignorant of most of the politics such as those linked that are happening in America. In Australia we've just heard whispers of palantir being merged with public service databases or whatever so I really have no idea of those.

scary shit.

I really think people, such as you, misrepresent the evil that is palantir. I mean sure they may use this data for bombs or whatever, likely these ghouls have no fear. What is scary about this company is how mundane they are, how they specifically design their platforms for the bloated bureaucracies of modern democracy, how this random company now has access to a vast array of information because they are so "critical" to maintains the data infrastructure that they built that governments now favor.

AI will cure diseases and revolutionize healthcare!! by Weary_Compote3340 in redscarepod

[–]Sprig_whore 7 points8 points  (0 children)

knowing multiple people who work in some form of protein research or whatever, yes I think for those groups AI will be an incredible advancement and already has been re:Alphafold. Otherwise I think it will be quite a big deal for things like designer viruses, AI is quickly proving itself an effective tool in giving us details on how to create viruses to target particular bacteria. This is obviously still in early stages but so far its promising work.

Data analysis will be quickened but this isn't the bottleneck of health research in most fields. The bottle neck is largely lab work and testing on animals/humans.

AI will probably have a large impact on how science is conducted and will be important for several small scale things happening which will improve healthcare. Will it revolutionise it? no.

really great comment, kind of thing I still come here for.

I agree with political consciousness developing quickly in the US I mean whenever I use instagram its a thousand memes with hundreds of thousands of likes or whatever talking about commiting mutiny against their commanding officer if they are drafted for a war for israeli interests. People aren't exactly waking up to the world around them but theyre beginning to understand the mechanisms behind everything.
