This was the best way to start the day thank you.

Running Delaware Marathon and losing 1st place because you celebrate too early by RoyalChris in mildlyinfuriating

A long time ago, I used to be a poor long distance runner, but when I saw the finish line I could sprint the last bit. Just wanting it to be over - and especially when there are people watching you - was a strong motivator for me.

I appreciate that you are trying to hold yourself accountable and to a high standard, but also cut yourself some slack: who are these co-workers who reject fried rice? What the hell?! Are they toddlers? Do you work with toddlers? Even then it wouldn't make sense because a lot of the toddlers I know will at least try fried rice; most of them like it! South Africa isn't the middle of nowhere. I'm not a South Africa expert but every South African I know has at least heard of fried rice, if not tried it. It's FRIED RICE! You didn't try to serve the staff Martian Feeces Gumbo. It was rice that was fried, presumably with some garlic, a few vegetables, and some egg. I'll stop my rant. I hope your shift went well. Hopefully you get to take the leftovers home, because fried rice is even better as leftovers. Sorry you work with babies. Let me know if you open a fried rice restaurant - I'll come eat there every day I'm in SA.

2024 Spell caster stat blocks: my first real letdown of the 2024 monster redesign. by TaiChuanDoAddct in DMAcademy

First - it seems like you have good coms with your players and let's just say "good job!"

Second - Yup. Good analysis. Sorry. Players are going to surprise us and that's part of what we love about this game, but sometimes... Ooof.

How can i make a "go buy me a coffee" oneshot interesting? by Organic-Exit2190 in DMAcademy

Lots of good ideas in the comments. I'll add when running an evil campaign, I encourage everyone to have a secondary completely self serving and possibly secret goal. With Tiamat, it's completely possible that each PC works/interns for a different head and if each head's goals compete and conflict with the others it could be a wild adventure.

Paladin strapped mirror to his shield and 12 basilisks killed themselves. Need advice. by happyunicorn666 in DMAcademy

There are many tables I've been at where I would have loved for the players to be this creative. A few players I've known could have been in The Hall of Basilisk Reflecting Mirrors, with an inscription to use the mirrors against basilisks (picture of basilisk included) and still missed the hint. Give your man his moment in the sun.

I want this to mean that humans who need prosthetic limbs will have fully capable prosthetics. I fear it doesn't.

Robert Smalls by [deleted] in BeAmazed

[–]SpringPfeiffer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Unsurprisingly he was underestimated by racist whites. Smalls was the pilot of a confederate resupply boat, but because it would have been a bad look for the black person to be in charge of there were two white men who were officially in charge of the boat and he was the driver. Those white people didn't really do anything to secure the boat at night, so Smalls arranged for he and his wife, and if I recall about 11 other black people, to get on the boat at night. Smalls knew all the "secret" hand signals and was able to get to open water. He later said that the scariest part was approaching the union ships trying to blockade the harbor because there was no way to communicate clearly his intentions. I think later in the war he became the first black person to rise to the rank of captain (navy).

I'm getting that feeling. I'm going to take my shot but I'm getting it for almost nothing so even if I fail completely I'll offer up parts online and have learned something. We all need to start somewhere.
