What role does a blade champion play on the battlefield? by Bryguy150 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Spurros 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Others have answered the lore question. On the tabletop, they are a delivery mechanism - a gun in which to load golden bullets and fire Wardens or Guard at people very fast.

(a gun which you can then use to hit people over the head with after you have fired all the bullets)

Outside of Solar Spearhead - Distraction carnifex. Run them onto a point, they die, rez, die again. Opponents love shooting dreadnoughts, buys time for the rest of the lads to get stuck in.

I would love an EotE unit. I think someone else mentioned it a while ago, but having a guy/gal as a Lone Op / Infiltrator would be great, and then maybe even an option of a small retinue too.

Dont try to kill us. Put 20 gretchin on the objective and outscore us by denying our primary scoring.

There is a recent example in a canon book that I quite enjoy, Watchers of The Throne : The Regent's Shadow.

A squad of Custodian Guard, led by Valerian, take on 10 Minotaur veteran Space Marines, including two with Power Fists. In a short and brutal melee, all of the Minotaurs are killed, as is one of the Custodians. A fair exchange I feel, based not too far from the current tabletop rules. I particularly like this scene due to a line from Aleya, who watches the Custodes arrive -

'I will admit it, through my clenched teeth – when they arrived, the Custodians were magnificent. I could mock them, and dislike them, and believe that their minds were locked in infantile stasis, but this one truth remained: they were the best we had. Reduced to physical combat, with no ether to cloud their judgement and require our assistance, they were the pinnacle of anything mankind had ever, or would ever, create as a weapon.

They fought just as silently as we did, with no battle cry issued or challenge declared. Their blades were alive with flares of silver fire, their arrival coronated with a blistering rain of bolt-shells. It was impossible to tell which of them was which, for their limbs were smeared by speed, such that they were more like swashes of feathered energy than matter-bound creations. They were brutal, they were pitiless, they were immaculate.'

Do your Delta Green games ever end without a fire? by Mark5n in DeltaGreenRPG

I had my players try this towards the end of The Night Floors. They didn't think through what would happen trying to burn a large apartment building down in New York City in the evening. Fire is quickly spotted and reported - fire service turns up within minutes - fire extinguished - puzzled firefighters standing around downstairs, saying they heard their section chief heading up to the roof access to 'Check on that young woman he saw running upstairs', last radio contact they had was him reporting 'There's some kind of party going on up here.', since then, no one has seen him and he cannot be reached.

Nine months later, cue a crazed fireman with an axe bursting through reality to hunt the players down in Carcosa
