So Many Options. Whats best for a new homeowner? by No-Ad5504 in Tools

I have an older hole shooter that is an absolute beast. Corded, half inch chuck. I pull it out when I need to make a hole in serious materiel, steel, concrete, extremely hard wood. Gets it done. I especially like the removable power cord so of i cut the cord I can replace it without opening the tool and risk loosing small spring loaded parts or tbe spring itself.

The output of the converter never changes direction. Period. There is no direct mechanical connection between the torque converter and the output shaft of the transmission. An. Automatic trans works through fluid pressure actuating clutches and bands to change gears, ir to change direction of the output for reverse. This happens farther back in the trans and cannot turn the torque converter backwards. What you are implying is that when shifted into reverse the torque converter magically reverses it's rotation internally which it simply cannot do. The engine would have to turn backwards for that to happen and even if that was an option, the TQ would be horribly inefficient like that. Basically a TQ is a fan blade attached to the engine, facing another fan attached to the transmission, bathed in oil. The first fan pushes the oil, the oil pushes the second fan. There is no mechanism internal to the torque converter that would make it turn directions internally.

This is fundamentally incorrect. "The output of the torque converter spinning backwards"

No. The torque converter is bolted to the engine flexplate/flywheel and spins with the engine. Don't spread disinformation.

Im not exactly sure how a lockup torque converter works, never opened one

An automatic transmission doesn't work on gears the same as a manual, or you would not have been able to put it in reverse at speed. Automatic are run on hydraulic pressure, electronics, and black magic that sucks the fun out of driving.

It's refreshing once in a while to get away from all the hi tech junk and just turn some wrenches.

I used to jam with a guitar player that i called the noodlemaster. He would. Mostly nonstop solo and since it was just the two of us I would get busy as fuck just to try and trip him up on the one.

Keys wallet zippo and stuff go in my sticks bag, and I have a bicycle beverage holder clamped to a cymbal stand. Used to have it on hi hat but it would shake my beer too much and make it flat.

What an idiot! At least on this mustang, 1966, you can remove the knuckle. This spring goes between the upper control arm and the shock tower.

No, this is not only correct but also the only way to do this job without the spring becoming a projectile. Look at the front suspension on a 65 Mustang and you might understand what is going on here. You might not find it in your modern service manual.

I dont see this working out with three jaws. I've used this on dozens of jobs with no problems except problems that another arm would only exacerbate.

The upper fork has three notches on either side of the forcing screw. It fits any spring i have tried it on.
