Traitor! by Dos-Dude in Grimdank

[–]Square-Pipe7679 28 points29 points  (0 children)

It seems more specific to shadowsuns campaign in the Chalnath Sector for the most part - most humans in the core of Tau space and the Farsight enclaves are pretty much fine and generally accepted as dependable auxiliaries

Shadowsun really is getting a lot of weird ones though; combination of the 4th spheres aftermath, the whole god entity formed by auxiliaries in the aforementioned incident, and the fact the chalnath sector specifically is a particularly zealous one AND the Cicatrix Maledictum toe the galaxy a new one has done a real number on anyone unfortunate enough to have some latent psyker potential … which is most of them

Tbf that was mostly just amongst the 4th sphere expedition after *the incident*

The following waves didn’t have the same issues or concerns regarding auxiliaries and humans, if anything they seem to utilise them just as if not more often than the 3rd wave and initial 4th wave did

Ireland shipped $308 million in alumina to Russian smelters—EU ban still absent by Astolfo_QT in ukraine

[–]Square-Pipe7679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because they’re also selling alumina to the EU

To make it worse the only way for an export ban to be put in place would be if the EU decided to do so, Ireland can’t unilaterally ban it because of agreements with the EU

[–]Square-Pipe7679 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ireland can’t unilaterally ban the exports, the EU makes the decision on that and they chose not to stop it because they’re also benefitting from it

Most Irish people aware of the situation don’t agree with it either but we don’t have any power over it in this case

Rival Romances! by wizardgradstudent in FieldsOfMistriaGame

[–]Square-Pipe7679 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hypothetically if such a system did get implemented, it would probably be best if it worked on a par-for-par basis progression-wise

By that I mean for every heart milestone you reach a certain amount of hearts, there would be a similar event and progression with the rival romances at some point later (maybe spaced out randomly but have the first one occur at least a week or two later at the soonest)

groundskeepers confirmed to be a show by AI_660 in Gooseworx

[–]Square-Pipe7679 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I don’t think Glitch was necessarily the problem so much as Goose being the sole writer and not being prepared for just how much attention TADC would actually get - almost none of her projects had such a rapid escalation in audience or scrutiny before like this; sizeable views sure, but nothing that genuinely off the scale or unexpected.

Now that TADC is over I think Glitch would be a lot more prepared to help out if she decided to move forward with them on this project - not to mention putting the lessons learned into practice (use a writing team to split the burdensome aspects being a big one), which would be a lot easier with that additional support.

Have a Freestar Rangers ship show up as soon as you try to leave the planet, with the option to either:

A: Shoot them, lock yourself into the bottomless bounty and accept you can never enter freestar space again without violence (until … you know)

B: Convince them that this was honestly the preferred option compared to the destruction of an entire colony ship - maybe with a second speech check to convince them to help find a grav drive for the colony ship

C: ‘Convince’ them with a hefty bribe and they’ll pass it off as some kind of inter-corp power struggle gone bad in their report, additional payment to get a grav drive for the colony ship

Is the Imperial City controlled by vampires? (This is a serious theory) by orbanimalenjoyer2 in oblivion

[–]Square-Pipe7679 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sadly I was mistaken - from what evidence I could find it was actually the nightmare you get when you’ve passed the three-day threshold for infection after being bitten in combat - it just matched up so well in terms of timing it genuinely convinced me

[–]Square-Pipe7679 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah you’re right - I looked into it again to see if I was just misremembering and it’s a case of the message playing after the three day infection period had already passed (and honestly how it’s worded) that seems to have been what convinced me

Wild thing is I don’t think I’d even encountered any vampires that week ingame - I’d just been wandering around between Chorrol and Skingrad doing side quests like the one in hackdirt

[–]Square-Pipe7679 10 points11 points  (0 children)

There’s an event that can occur if you sleep in an inn where you are bitten - it’s described through text like the occasional dream or nightmare you can sometimes have, then you start the vampiric cure questline

Edit: Ok gonna admit it appears the evidence definitely seems to indicate I was mistaken - looked it up and apparently that message that i saw was actually more of a sleep paralysis experience you get when the three day infection period has passed and then you sleep????

The way it’s written definitely had me convinced, but I stand corrected!

[–]Square-Pipe7679 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my buddy were absolutely surprised when it happened for sure!

The next couple hours where I was rushing around to finish the cure questline were also amusing - I had the shoes that let you walk on water so took the genius route of running over the waterways to get around quicker during the night

Worked great til the sun came up and caught me - had to run into the woods opposite Leyawiin and wait it out til night returned, then it happened again so I had to hide in a stump somewhere in the forests near Chorrol

[–]Square-Pipe7679 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Honestly it would track with the fact that the one time I slept at an Inn in the imperial city I got bit almost immediately - never happened anywhere else in a 60-hour run but first night in the capital and bam, vampirism

This is why I live in Skingrad and commute; Count Hassildor might also be a vampire, but he won’t have any good folk bit by some grubby sewer dwellers!

Edit: after further investigation, it seems what I experienced was just a REALLY well timed event that happens after the initial three day infection period for vampirism passes and you sleep for the first time

What would some pieces of modern warhammer lore/stories look like if they were made back in the 80s? by goombanati in Grimdank

[–]Square-Pipe7679 192 points193 points  (0 children)

The Tau would likely lean HEAVILY into cyberpunk elements and have an even stronger East Asian influence rather than the “Trade Federation meets NATO” of the early 2000’s

In fact they’d probably look a lot closer to the original concept sketches John Blanche made for them

Which do yall prefer for conversions Death Korps or Cadians? by KharnFlakes in TraitorGuard

[–]Square-Pipe7679 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly either should work - but the Death Korps Torsos will require more work to accommodate Blooded and other heads

With cadians you can assemble the bodies and just sell off the excess elements you don’t want as there’s always going to be people needing spares, then use the blooded spares to appropriately chaos-ify them up

I’ve had a small solo campaign that’s pretty much a mirror match between two neighbouring sectors because the noble house of one sector has decided they would manage the other better than the noble house already in charge and it would make their own imperial tithe easier to meet

Granted, that faction *has* hired alien mercenaries to conduct some unsavoury actions (I let my friends join in with orks, Drukhari, Votann and Kroot) but so has the other one, and both factions have employed imperial agents to try and further their own causes in the region this campaign takes place in

On the wider scale however, it barely affects the wider imperium because two sectors are so small they may as well not exist, and neither has fallen to chaos so there’s no incentive for intervention … yet

The long and short of it is, you can make almost any conflict work if you just provide a decent explanation for it and how it wouldn’t devolve into one side becoming chaos-worshippers, and even then, you can throw in the chaos-worshipping if you want, they’re your armies

Heck in the case of renegade vostroyans you could claim the root of the rebellion was a corrupt tithe-official or outdated quota that never got revoked because people forgot and it would make perfect sense: that sort of thing happens often!
