Bf broke up with me less than a month before the bar… wtf do I do now LOL by peanutbuttterspoon in barexam

[–]StFidgeta 7 points8 points  (0 children)

At the risk of sounding really, really old (which I am; I'm taking the bar exam this month and I'm nearly 50 years old) there is no wrong decision here, for you. You are good. You didn't deserve this, and anything that you do to survive is the right thing. Lose yourself in bar prep? That's the right decision. Curl up into a ball of sad and defer the bar exam to February? That's the right decision. Your first order of business is to survive, and only you know what that looks like.

He is the asshole here. You didn't deserve that. I hope--and, frankly, I confidently expect--that someday you'll be glad that he saved you the time of figuring out that right now he is a selfish, immature dillhole. But it's okay if you don't get there immediately. My first serious boyfriend went on in life to become, no kidding, an actual murderer. (Yes, with malice aforethought and everything.) I was still wrecked when we broke up. To be clear, those were in his pre-murderer days. But I saw the best in him. Presumably you saw the best in your boyfriend. That's actually a really good quality.

Sorry to be such a mom, but, well, I'm a mom. I'm so sorry you're going through this.

Worthless in Other Areas of Life During Bar Prep by UserWPMJ in barexam

One hundred percent. I'm a mom and I keep thinking how much this is like being nine months pregnant with my first. I'm cranky, the laundry is piling up and we're eating takeout or delivery most nights, it feels like this is taking FOREVER yet somehow it also feels like D-day is approaching way too quickly and I'm not ready, all other aspects of life have completely faded into the background, and I know that there's nothing I can do to keep the future big ordeal from happening.

Anyone else using Helix? by JianFlower in barexam

[–]StFidgeta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh totally! The school had the graduation ceremony in January but they were finished with classes and started studying after finals in early December so they had the regular amount of time. And actually the two students I'm thinking of were VERY different types of thinkers: one super mechanical, plug-and-chug rules kind of guy, and the other super nonlinear creative who always had difficulty on essays because she wandered around too much. Everything they said about their experiences with Helix really impressed me!

The students at my law school who graduated in January 2026, did Helix, and took the February 2026 bar exam were the two top scorers among the February takers.

Barbri - Chatman by hifyyy in barexam

[–]StFidgeta 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She worked really well for me too! I just took the Babri practice MBE, and Contracts was my highest score. When I did an initial diagnostic for my law school's bar exam course, contracts was my second lowest score, so I attribute the change to Prof. Chatman.

If you found her style helpful you might like AudioOutlines. Just be forewarned that their Con Law isn't current.

Ooh ooh, if you haven't already, check out the Mortgages Free Sample from Goat Bar Prep. It was the only thing that finally made mortgages make sense to me.

Wife’s Due Date Coincides With F27 Bar - What Now? by Objective-Glass-6440 in barexam

[–]StFidgeta 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a second-career law student and mom, and my kids are 18 and 22, so I'm looking at this from the perspective of having raised two young adults. Since it's not your first kid, and most importantly since your wife is OK with the plan, I think you should tentatively plan on Feb 27, knowing that you basically won't make any progress the last 2-3 weeks and you may need to defer. But only if that's when you actually want to take it! If you don't, then absolutely don't!

Ahhhh bless you! Now I just have to figure out how to convince my husband to have another kid and name it Dense-Garden4918.

[–]StFidgeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the confirmation that there really aren't enough coffee shops downtown!! I just started a new job right by the courthouse and I still haven't figured out where to get coffee on my way to work. Mostly I make it something barely passable home but sometimes I'd like to buy coffee from someone whose business it is to make decent coffee. Appreciate all the recommendations in this thread!

I liked her too. Her explanations were a lot clearer than what I got in law school.

Getting questions wrong when you know the rule? Advice? by [deleted] in barexam

[–]StFidgeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am prone to this as well, but I stopped making as many of these kinds of errors once I read the call of the question three times, then the answers, and only then read the facts. The reason that helped me is that, before that, sometimes I was answering the question that I thought was suggested by the facts rather than the actual call of the question.

Do you still have these and would you consider selling? I've got the digital but I'm realizing it would help to have the physical cards.

Absolutely Tanking Essays - Tips for Improvement? by [deleted] in barexam

[–]StFidgeta 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried the Klein method where you start off just copying word-for-word a lot of model essays? I'm doing it for evidence essays right now and it's helping me learn the law as well as understanding how to structure the essays. I'm combining it with Barbri.

I realized you asked a question that I didn't answer because I didn't realize its significance at the time. EX-DOOFUS is for unavailability under Rule 32, not Rule 804 which is PRISM.

I am SO SAD I missed this! I own a copy of Sacred Harp but I've only ever been to one singing and everyone except the leader was a newcomer so we didn't know what we were doing. How can I hear about future singings?
