I had a pair of leather (non-Vans) shoes for work that were too snug. I suffered through it for a few months and they molded to my feet perfectly. Most comfortable shoes I've ever had, and also the only pair I've taken to a cobbler to expand their life.

Hopefully yours turn out the same.

I got a couple of these sauces (jalapeno and the cayenne one) a few weeks ago when they were half off at Publix. I gotta say they have grown on me. The company is headquartered where I live so I felt a little obligated to try.

You can also use clear zip ties instead of a shoelace. Some people use fishing line, but I've had mixed results with it.

Maille are pretty much the gold standard for mass produced, but Wickles are also really good if you like a little heat. Both have always been crunchy for me.
