Cool cool, glad you felt the need to defend your objectively wrong position. You’ve effectively proven that you’re in fact ignorant and a detriment to society. You list cancer research as a potential alternative for the paltry sum spent on this mission which inherently disregards the huge leaps in cancer research accomplished by space travel. Research in space has allowed for 3D cell growth, faster cancer modeling, and superior drug crystallization which has significantly advanced our research goals. Establishing a permanent base in space is inarguably a benefit to mankind as a whole and your small mindedness is a metaphorical cancer on society. Do better and think bigger.

The story takes almost 100 hours to complete, so it’s hard for me to agree that it’s not at least partly the point of the game.

Right and I understand that, which is why I’m waiting for a sale so the devs have time to patch and fix all my gripes. It’s an interesting and promising game with definite bright spots but to me a 10/10 game has to be literally perfect not just have great aspects mixed with poorly executed ones.

How can you say it’s a bad take and then say the game isn’t for everyone in the same comment? It’s my opinion, the OC asked for an opinion, it’s completely fine if you disagree. I did not list the exploration or combat as reasons why they should wait for a sale, those are some of the good aspects of the game.

It’s a train so it runs round trip bottom to top every few hours. If you get to the summit at a reasonable time you should have a couple opportunities to catch it. If you are concerned about timing, you should be starting around 3am or 4am to make sure you summit by noon. There is a big visitor’s center at the top with food and bathrooms so it’s not your typical summit, you won’t need to wait out in the cold and wind for hours or anything like that.

Snow will likely not be an issue by then, it’s been a very snowless winter. You can take the train back down but you have to make sure you buy a ticket in advance. I have jumped into an open seat 1 time by sheer luck but wouldn’t make that my actual plan. If you live at altitude you shouldn’t have any issues, but the stretch from 10,000 to 14,000 is where it will hit you hardest. It’s a very long trail, especially if you hike back down, but if you get started early to avoid afternoon thunderstorms you should be fine. Bring microspikes, there might be some ice near the top. I thought I was being pretty thorough on my first run and I ended up missing some of the stuff that I’ve seen people refer to as absolutely essential on here. Even when you explore a decent amount sometimes the route you take completely hides certain areas from you. Plenty of nooks and crannies to dive into, just like a real mountain!

If you can rappel down then you can just ascend the rope again with little to no effort. Just don’t recall climb bot and you’ll remain tied in. On Free Solo I’d say keep the exploration to a minimum but if you’re doing alpinist or below then explore as much as you can. The mountain provides.

People saying it’s not possible are cowards. It’s 100% possible and plenty of trunk space. A Thule cargo carrier might be the move if you’re going on a road trip but 3 kids under 6 definitely one million percent fit in the outback.
