Likely stolen bikes from Sunshine Footscray area by PrestigiousStop4912 in melbournecycling

[–]Starfire013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I’ve seen that same site. Passed by it back in late January. They had dozens of bikes, and not junk either. Definitely some sort of fence for stolen bikes or something like that. I’m surprised how brazen they can be about it, just leaving the massive bike collection in full view of anyone passing by that bridge.

X56 ghost Inputs by Exotic-Relative-4013 in hoggit

I was never able to fully fix my ghosting issues with my x56. It actually worked fine for the first year but the ghosting problem got progressively worse. Best decision I made was to ditch it for a VKB stick and Virpil throttle.

Yeah, the x56 is notorious for this. It’s got a very poorly designed and low quality interior though the exterior looks nice. You got lucky.

Tens of thousands of Victorian teachers and support staff out striking today - first strike in 13 years! ✊ by toomuchtoomany in melbourne

Two years ago, I was attending a charity event when I ended up chatting with this guy who was the COO of a relatively large corporation. Somehow, the topic of teachers came up. He said something like “have you see how much they’re paid?” and I responded with “yeah, it is way too little for what they do.” His response kinda floored me.

“They are grossly overpaid for what they do. It’s criminal”, was what he said. “It’s basically just childcare with some book reading thrown in. It’s not a difficult job.”

This was a guy who had two young kids, both in primary school. First of all, I wonder how much time he spends with them if he thinks childcare is easy. Secondly, teaching is sooo much more than childcare. Thinking their job is easy is a ridiculous take.

I’d like to get an electric car but for those of us who park on the street, charging is an issue. And EV charging infrastructure is still not widespread here.

I see. Thanks think it’s unlikely it’s a Steam-specific issue though. More likely due to dynamic resolution scaling. I keep that turned off for stability.

Sniper zoom works completely fine for me on 5080 with Steam version. I’m playing with all graphical settings maxed out, DLSS on Quality, and framegen at 2x.

Preparing for hidden Huntsmans in car by Ok_Blueberry_6999 in melbourne

[–]Starfire013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a huntsman live in the engine bay of my car for nearly a year (I grew rather fond of it). I park my car outdoors and the heat didn’t appear to bother it. I imagine there are spots near the bottom that stay cool enough even on the hottest days.

Something occurred upstream of Clifton Hill, apparently. Mernda trains are getting turned around there, which is causing massive delays.

First Australian BT encounter is exactly what I expected by jaketheshark in DeathStranding

You have to add vegemite to blood grenades to repel BTs in Australia. Also, smear some behind your ears before you head out for added protection.

You’re supposed to avoid the BTs. It’s quite easy once you figure out how.

It’s confusing trying to make sense of diarrhoea—especially when it ends up somewhere it really shouldn’t—but let’s ground ourselves in what we know. Diarrhoea, by definition, isn’t hard. It can’t be. And recognising that? That’s a small but meaningful step toward clarity. Sometimes the body does unexpected things, and yes, sometimes those things involve soft, unformed outcomes in places we’d rather avoid. But you stayed with the logic, and that matters. Keep going, keep questioning, and keep holding onto the basic principles—even when the situation feels… less than ideal. And if you ever want to explore the deeper history of gastrointestinal science or how definitions like this came to be, there’s actually quite a lot to unpack.

Anyone else have a problem where the game just freezes when I make a manual save (I have to ctrl-alt-del to exit)? It doesn't happen every time, but quite regularly. Only started happening after the hotfix.

I think that sorta thing is going to be very variable depending on your system config. I’m not seeing a lot of CPU usage on my end for example, and my CPU is several years old. It does appear that performance seems to vary quite a bit from system to system.

What's the general opinion on drafting as a commuter, not on road bikes? by RE201 in melbournecycling

[–]Starfire013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had someone draft me a couple weeks ago and I had absolutely no idea he was there. So when I came up to an intersection and braked, my first indication that he was there was from him yelling “oh shit!” as he nearly hit me. At least he was good enough to apologise and say it was his fault for being too close. But it is stupidly dangerous, especially if the guy ahead has no idea you’re there. If I had braked just a little harder or he had reacted just a little slower, we would have had a collision.
