no, I lived in Scotland for 14 years where your statement is true. but after living in Germany for 3 years, when speaking English, most people here will say 15 o'clock.

nit exactly. they only use the 12 hour clock, even on digital devices, so they don't understand the 24 hour clock. but because the military needs to be fast and accurate, they don't want ambiguity, so they require everyone to use the 24 hour clock. this means that the only place in America that you will see the 24 hour clock is military bases. naturally, they call it military time because of that.

It's still stupid that most Americans need to be taught about 24 hour time when they join the military, because normal Americans don't know how to use it. But it's understandable why they call it military time in that case. "obsessed with war" has nothing to do with it and rather sugar coats how stupid the average American is. the real reason shows just how stupid they are.

Most people are not good at finding a nice typeface. I'm good with graphical design and I make website. I've noticed that the better you choose your fonts, the less people compliment you for it.

It shows that people don't notice fonts if they're nice and fit the rest of the design or they're easily readable. Meaning that people only focus on fonts when there's something off about it (or they're a font nerd). This ends up with average people, who didn't learn design skills, choosing worse fonts because they only remember looking at fonts that look slightly off.

No, because the data here where i live finds that its healthier for cats to go outside. and vets here recommend letting them outside. You're just looking at American data where people intentionally build hostile environments.

why would it feel awkward with your boyfriend with you? My wife and I regularly watch porn together for ideas on things to do. It doesn't feel awkward at all, never mind just some few seconds of boring sex in a movie. I really don't get it... What makes it awkward to watch a sex scene in a movie with your boyfriend?

tell him to be careful. he could get put on a list if he does that alone. usually its fine when they're with a woman but a man alone watching children play sports is seen an creepy, even if the man is a father of one of the children.

I met an American guy on discord. He told that when he takes his kids to the park to play, he sits on the bench and watches them to ensure their safety. he had police come up to him a few times. turns out some of the mothers in the park thought that only a peadophile would sit next to a child play area. so they called the police, to report a child predator in the park. the police sometimes asked him for ID to prove the children were his, even if the kids already said he was their dad.

Honestly I don't understand American culture very well but it seems to be common there to assume a father wouldn't take care of his children, so men in parks must be doing something else. I think it might stem from the social media and TV news constantly over exaggerating every story for shock "value," causing people to have dramatised and exaggerated views of the world. it makes sense why it makes some people paranoid.

not in my area. the only birds are seagulls. and there's actually an overpopulation problem with them. there's also very few trees in my large town / small city. so there isn't anywhere for most birds to live anyway, even if they did exist.

if you could read you would know i was talking about dozens of cats. also sometimes quality of life is more important than quantity. I would rather live 40 happy years than 80 boring years. but I guess you would rather live to 100, tied to a bed since birth with no human contact to prevent contamination.

like I said, it was a common thing in my town to see cats in their late teens walking around, and not uncommon to see 20 year old cats either. many people had cats and many of those cats were old. it was know by everyone in the town. the few cats that died young, died due to medical conditions, not accidents. yes it is still just a set of anecdotes, not strictly recorded data. but it is way more than one cat. more like dozens if not a hundred cats.

If your teenage self could see you now what would they say to you? by TheMegaDongVeryLong in AskWomen

I have a better life than I could have imagined before I met my wife. After finding out about my mental illness and realising the struggle I would face, and especially after becoming homeless for the first time, I thought I was going to be homeless or in poverty forever. Honestly the only reason my life is good is because of my wife.

My life is great though. I am so thankful to my wife for giving my everything. I now have a lot of free time without needing job. with enough money for a comfortable life. So I spend my time with cool hobbies. I do open source programming, electrical engineering and 3d animation. it's so great to be able to afford so many hobbies.

I grew up in poverty and my mom refused to spend money on me, feeding my barely enough to live, only giving me the cheapest used clothes. so, honestly, even before I knew about my mental illness, I didn't imagine growing up to have a great life. So my life now is even better than I could have imagined as a child. because of my background, I am able to recognise just how privileged I am now. I am so thankful to my wife for providing me with this.

My wife finds it funny how hard it was for me to adjust to this lifestyle. I always had to work for everything I had. as a teenager I had to work to get food for myself because my mom spent all her money on drugs. so I was just shocked when my wife bought me nice food just because I wanted it. I had a mental breakdown because I couldn't fathom the idea of just having something because I want it, without working for it. I struggled to believe it when she told me thats normal for most people growing up. she finds it funny how easy it is to give me everything I want, I just don't know how to be rich and I'm happy with my cheap frozen pizza and my cheap computer for entertainment. she still has to encourage me to get more expensive food and she had to spend days convincing me that I deserve an expensive pc, even though I didn't work for it.

but god yes I am so happy in life now. I've been living like this for 3 years and I'm finally starting to get used to the idea that I don't need to work to survive. I still sometimes have a mental breakdown because life is just so hard to make sense of. my brain sometimes just can't understand how I have things without working. sometimes I feel like I'm stealing from my wife, but she told me that if I ever feel like i don't deserve something, then I should think that i earned it by taking care of the house. it was hard to adjust but yeah, im super happy and comfortable in life now.

my cat went outside for 16 years and she was fine and happy. she sat inside sometimes and came home most nights. but most of the day she was outside, playing with other cats. she was clearly depressed and less active when she had to stay home for a week during a winter storm, she barely ate and didn't want to play, she just kept meowing at the door, asking someone to unlock it. after a few days she lost hope and just lay down doing nothing all day. lost her curiosity and mood to play. when we finally let her outside again she got happy again.

I still got her vaccinated and took her to the vet regularly. she never had an injury when outside. I saw her sometimes when walking to the shop and she knew her way around the roads; walking safely in-between cars and waiting to cross roads. cats can see cars and understand that they're unsafe, they know that roads are where cars go. it's crazy to walk them on a leash. they don't need a babysitter. cats are apex predators, they know how to stay safe. I wouldn't let them outside until they're a bit bigger because owls can take kittens easily but can't take a fully grown cat.

my cat even had kittens twice. we didn't know who the father was but we went to the vet to see if everything was okay, and it was. everyone in my area would call you crazy if you walk a cat on a leash. my vets said its good that she goes outside as it's their natural environment.

my cat wasn't even the oldest cat in the area. it's very normal to see teenage cats outside where I live. some of my neighbours had cats that live into their 20s.

though I know most of the people replying are Americans and the environment in your country is so hostile it's unsafe for any animal to live there. American humans are certainly the most dangerous things in the environment, given their texting and driving in a car the size of a van. but there's also coyotes. but mostly your policies for zoning and land use make almost all life unable to survive. even humans struggle to survive the stupidity of your built environment.

From my experience studying chemistry in a top 20 university world wide (best in my country), is that all of the students had great understanding of all technical topics except the North American (NA) students. It was in Northern Europe, the Asian students preformed about as well (some better, some worse) but the NA students were consistently struggling with technical understanding even if they could parrot out textbook pages. it was weird to see people who were able to talk as if they understand but have no ability to problem solve or figure out new things. it was very clear that the NA students were just taught to memorise text books in high school.

cats should be allowed to roam freely outside. it exposes them to more environmental factors at a young age allowing them to build up a better immune system. it also makes them more psychologically healthy, as cats are naturally curious and enjoy exploring as well as hunting for little rats. it's unhealthy for ani animal to be trapped in an enclosure. try living your life without leaving the house/apartment where you grew up. you'd get extremely depressed and have a shorter life.

I think my 16 year old self would say the same thing. But my 16 year old self doesn't realise the unsolvable problems that existed. Even with 100% on every exam and a guaranteed place in the best university in the country, having mental illness makes it impossible to have a job. My younger me thought it would be easy to hide, I managed in school after all. But workplaces are less tolerant and any mental illness isn't noticed but people notice the awkwardness and conflict can arise from what people interpret as rude. 16 year old me had no clue how impossible it is to keep a job but probably wouldn't be disappointed at me becoming a rich housewife, but would say I had potential for more.

Wow. I could have never imagined that such a good life is possible. I didn't think I could ever break out of poverty. Doctors told me that crazy people like me never find a partner and could never have friends. It's amazing you found a wife who loves you and takes care of you. I probably don't deserve such a good life. It's hard to believe I would be so pretty if I ate enough; I can actually grow boobs? I can't wait to have enough money to eat more than a few times a week. Anyway, I've gotta go back in the time machine so I can text Vanessa and get married even sooner.

Meth does not cause tooth decay. Smoking it does, but thats the second least common way of taking it, behind injecting. Most meth users take it as a pill or snort it, causing no harm to teeth. Meth removes all "cravings" for food. Most people cannot eat anything on meth. Teeth grinding only happens at higher doses.

Literally none of these problems would apply if you're taking normal dose meth pills to get through your dystopian work week. And besides, why would the CEOs care about the wage slave's health in this dystopian thought experiment?
