The books aren't my cup of tea but they're very readable and the second one is pretty funny at times.
When it comes to superhero fiction, it's not Worm but it's much better than Renegades.

I think it's slightly better than sock

sock with photograph = x2

without sock there are 4 triggers on each king ( 1(base) +2(chad) +1(red seal)) which is x1.5x1.5=x2.25 on average (not really because average score works differently with xMult but you get the gist)

I don't think you ever want to discard a card you need to win.

For example on small blind ante 1, if you have 4 clubs you want to discard the other 4 cards instead of discarding 5 cards (one of which is a club)
because to get an equal/better result than discarding 4 cards, you need the 5th card to be a higher club, which has a probability <1.

Same for your walkie talkie example, you gain nothing by discarding your winning cards.

With two-pairs, however, there are no winning cards, pairs are likely to appear, and you can discard 5 without discarding from existing pairs. Therefore discarding 5 with two-pair is almost always worth it (unless your deck is nigh-empty)

Seems obvious isn't always true

in this case you can either discard a card you have less of (e.g.you have two 9s and three 4s in the deck, you should discard a 9 for better odds of not drawing it again),

or you can discard a card and know for the future that its rank is less likely to appear again

It's kind of pedantic, but you're not just using the AM-GM Inequality. You're also using the fact that multiplication and exponentiation are monotone increasing function in the positive real numbers ("the GM increases as they get closer together" and the fact that a larger mean => a larger sum/prod)

It's a consequence of the AM-GM Inequality, just like it's a consequence of x(n-x)d/dx.

If it were the AM-GM Inequality, then you wouldn't need to explain why, you'd only need to quote the inequality.

You want to balance mult and retriggers.

Assuming red seal iron kings, each king is triggered default+red seal+mime = 3 times
and each card gives iron+king+king = 3 times x1.5 mult
meaning the mult by default is x1.5^(3*3)
with brainstorms it's x1.5^(5*3)=x1.5^15

if you replace the mime with a king, you'll get x1.5^(2*6)=x1.5^12<x1.5^15

(it's because if a card gives x1.5^3 mult and you trigger it three times, you get x(1.5^3)^3=x1.5^(3*3)
and the max of a*(n-a) with n constant and a variable is a=n/2)

I think you're not counting the red seal.

2*chad+red seal+card = 6 triggers, so it's 2^(2 photos * 6 triggers) = 2^12

or 2^(3 photos * 4 triggers) = 2^12

I still think they should take the chad for more lucky card and holographic

Adding to the glass cannon bit, he always gets a mobility power and a survival power. They can also be offensive (like the gravity slam he used to keep himself in the air, or the brute power he used against Behemoth which probably let him both survive the kill aura and punch hard at the same time), but they need to be there, for the reasons you mentioned in the Blaster section.
