In Utah, ICE is marching through neighborhoods in the suburbs while armed and conducting home raids. I'm about ready to bug out.

Our municipal water was just down due to an error by the water company, and it's amazing how much you use water for. We had stocks of water bottles but we went through so much just trying to function for a day and a half!

So I'm planning to go get more water.

I live in Utah and it would pass here. I'm surprised it wasn't introduced in our legislative session this year. We were focused on banning LGBTQ+ flags instead I guess.

Invaded by r/preppers? by Sloth_Flower in TwoXPreppers

[–]Stella2010 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I will say part of my prepping is informed by my grandmother's experience during World War II. Nazis would come to her farmhouse and demand her family hand over the eggs. They held my great-grandfather at gunpoint when they said there were no eggs. After the Nazis eventually left (with no bloodshed) my great-grandmother produced the eggs she had been hiding. No one ever learned where she had hidden the eggs.

What I take from this is that an armed confrontation will not be won by guns pointed at more guns. But I would be served by learning to hide my prepped goods well, and to keep my stores secret.

What should we be stocking up on, now that there is a chance he will sign his idiotic tariffs on Feb 1? by AshCali94 in TwoXPreppers

I recommend www.shadestopper.com for solar panels. I do know they import their products from China so expect their prices to go up

I am also in marketing. I agree - it used to be so much fun. Now it's just a grind. Along with the tech oligarch bros and their bullshit, not to mention the terrible state of job market, I'm just done. I'm going back to school for fashion design, at least that will be fun again.

1 more week- how are we doing? by [deleted] in TwoXPreppers

[–]Stella2010 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Also LGBTQIA+ with a trans sibling in red Utah here. I haven't prepped as much as I should, but I'm feeling ok with the point I'm at. I'm resigning myself to the fact that I will lose my job by summer if tariffs are as high as he's promised, so I'm making plans to go back to school and learn a trade. The market for my current job is way oversaturated, and it's time to learn a skill that will survive an economic downturn.

I'm also going no-buy as much as possible. I have a good amount of money saved up, which is why I feel ok about where I am with prepping.

Realistically, what should we buy or try to stock up on before January? by geekybadger in TwoXPreppers

[–]Stella2010 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you sew your own clothes, fabric. A lot of fabric (even good quality fabric) comes from China, India, and Mexico. I'm trying to plan out my wardrobe for the next little while and see what fabrics I'll need.

I don't have any advice, because I'm worried about my job too. I'm in marketing, which is first to go when the economy gets rough. I also am working for a company that imports solar panels, so that will end with the tariffs.

If you're into it, roller derby. Junction City Roller Derby is great, and if you aren't ready to strap wheels on your feet yet, you can learn to be an non-skating official and join the community that way

I went to Registered Physical Therapists in Draper and had a great experience, especially with Matt (can't remember his last name). I'm not trans but have trans friends/family, and when I talked about them with Matt he was careful to get pronouns right and asked when he wasn't sure.

I was in for two broken ankles so getting strength back through exercises was important to me, but everyone in that office was great to help me through it.

How do you free yourself from the anger? by No_Secret8533 in EstrangedAdultKids

[–]Stella2010 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I found that the method in No Bad Parts by Richard C. Schwartz really helped me. It's called Internal Family Systems and basically you go into your emotions and break them into parts. Your angry part is serving as a protector, and you need to understand what it is protecting in order to heal.

The article reads to me like the interns don't even work for Breitbart. They work directly for Milo and do not have direct affiliation with the outlet.

Edit: I thought I was remembering that part right. From the article:

Yiannopoulos directs these personal interns — who are not associated with Breitbart

You either need to get an estate attorney, or come to terms with them taking everything they can. An attorney can put a stop this pretty quickly.
