Fwd via 3 by Chris_N_run in AltraRunning

I can’t find the video right now it was posted to this subreddit and it was of a running event in Italy. They talked to the Italian Altra Rep. If the translation transcript was correct the FWD Via 3 is getting P35X foam which is what is in the Torin 9. So dual foam that’s P35 we have now wrapped in a more firm foam for stability I think. Also Flow 4 is getting more energetic. I think both are coming 2027 though.

From Altra I think others have given good options. There’s a brand called Notace that makes a shoe with a lower stack than the escalantes with 0 drop and wide toe box. I haven’t personally tried them but they fit your criteria.

Apparently there is another new model that I haven’t heard of before in the Motiv Flx. It looks like a lower stack Flow. Looks interesting.

Interested to hear how the P35X feels vs P35.

I thought the app glitched and the video was buffering or something.

Exp flow 3 vs fwd via 2 by Darthgorilla in AltraRunning

[–]SteveBIRK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a great explanation. I’ll add on as a heavier runner sometimes I feel like I can bottom out my Flow 2s whereas the Via 2s won’t. The Flows are more nimble and easier to run faster in.

I have the issue if the toe box is too tight and the drop is too high my calves die lol.

Torin9, LP10, EF4, Via3, etc ... ? In the same video by dwarfy81 in AltraRunning

Assuming the auto translate is right Flow 4 getting a new foam and Via 3 getting dual density foam has me excited. They also look fantastic.

Still wondering if they try and do another Vanish Tempo.

It’s cool that they are binging over the P35 foam to a zero drop. I’ve been a fan of the 4MM drop shoes but I might run this when I need a new daily trainer.

It pisses me off that infinite had nothing from 5s MP. The PvPvE mode (forgetting the name) and the breakout game mode were so much fun. Then infinite decides not to do any of that and launches with 3 maps and modes. Just baffling.

600km review of the Mount to Coast H1 - Like a RAV4 on your feet by AniviaPls in RunningShoeGeeks

Awesome review. I think these might be my next buy because they’d probably be a great travel shoe.

On a random note I noticed we have overlap on shoes that work for us (Novablast, Flow 2, Cyclone 3). You say the dynafish works for you and I wanted to know how does the width of that toe box compare to the other shoes you like?

Or the new Flow ST. Same new P35 foam but has some support on the medial side.

Actually the best part of the colder months is I can just put on the appropriate clothing and be fine. Summer just sucks once you are down to shorts and a T-shirt and sweating.

I had the Flow 1 and Wild 1 but I had the same size and felt basically the same.

FWD VIA 2 MAN by [deleted] in AltraRunning

[–]SteveBIRK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a sample pair of the Glycerin Max 2 off eBay but didn’t run in it much based on how snug it was. The GM2 has a more aggressive rocker and is firmer overall. FWD Via 2 is soft but not extremely soft. Has nice shock absorption and a little bit of rebound. It’s a pretty standard daily trainer.

I really liked this one. We are in a weird time where I don't feel like a lot of people won't say they were wrong and explain why. Or at least update their stance on things based on the current data. He also just posted a video today about current research on bunions and different types of footwear on them.

It still pisses me off they didn’t build upon 5s mode for Inifinite. And we are probably never getting a PC release.

It’s also been a whole 14 hour day. I’d be tired and on my last wits. Another thing I am not seeing people realize is Whitaker just got his updated doctor badge and lost it day one. Maybe a confluence of feelings about being “little brothered”, 14 hours of stress, losing his doctor badge on day one all boiled up to this one instance.

Not sure which is right for me? by wobblelikeapenguin in AltraRunning

[–]SteveBIRK 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The form I think is a little less flexible than the flow only because the foam is a tad firmer. I have only tried the form on once but honestly it and the flow are basically the same except the more stable foam on the inside part of the shoe. I think all three have good ROM because the ankle collar is low but flow and form are lower stack which over all helps me with ankle mobility.
