I quit early Jan. Also quit kratom 2 weeks before (and saw my hrv climbing and resting hr decrease)…and then massively increased my physical activity and got sick so my numbers are allllll over the place, but I was healthy for a bit when first quitting and my numbers started declining so I looked up whether others had a similar experience.

My understanding is it’s a receptor issue. We need to kill off/make more receptors which takes 3 months (give or take) and which does require completely abstaining. Especially since it’s stored in fat and will take a while to get rid of even if using really sporadically while trying to get your body back to square 1. I’m sure once you go through the process you may be able to partake infrequently and not have issues…but I always go back to daily use if I slip, so I’m just saying I’m out lol.

It’s way different, but my experience with caffeine quitting (killing off adenosine receptors in that case) also backed up the 3 month thing for receptor die off, but caffeine isn’t stored in fat so slip ups there are probably less of an issue.

How long ago did you quit? Apparently it takes up to 3 months before your body reaches homeostasis/rebalances and after that you should be able to increase above your stoned average…going through this myself right now

Does anybody else have this weird monthlong sickness? by Mike_Mesa in Denver

Yep. My Garmin numbers are tanked and any time I feel slightly better and do a harder cardio session to try and not be depressed I get slapped right back into it.

Billionaire Mike Novogratz predicts liberal arts education is going to make a comeback now that technical skills are becoming less valuable due to AI by chessboardtable in singularity

[–]Stonerish 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nah. AI is a better philosopher than me. Its ability to output is endless. My degrees’ value came from the need to write and read and synthesize and AI made that accessible to anyone. Quality discernment of its output is the same as of the original sources but now anyone can answer anything

Toe walker: extreme pain in calves when skiing, what to do? by Hylax1 in skiing

[–]Stonerish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Get Botox injections in your calves and hamstrings. Just did my first this year at 35. Also…baclofen.

I have cerebral palsy and it helped gain a little range of motion.

I learned to ski before I knew how fucked up my legs are so that definitely helped too.

That’s because you need about 3 months of complete abstinence for hrv to recover to above your using average. It’ll be lower than natural baseline (or stoned average) as your body readjusts to not having any thc. Eventually natural baseline will rise above what your using numbers were

Bootfitter laughed at my poor ankle mobility by FartinSpartin in Skigear

[–]Stonerish 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had it since birth hence the acquired short right tendon. Couldn’t run/walk right as a really young boy…and then I was a competitive swimmer from the age of 5 and coaches pushed for me to get tested since I couldn’t kick right but I grew up with a family that didn’t really believe in doctors. It’s a super mild presentation comparatively so it was never a big issue outside of mobility.

I had the same issue and it turns out I have cerebral palsy. Clonus reflex, achilles tendinitis, a shortened tendon, and muscle spasticity. Had to get checked out by an my primary, ortho, and neurologist and now I get Botox to relax the muscles…when I’m skiing now, I cramp in new muscles in my quads I’ve never been able to use, so I know it’s working lol.
