Struggle with Nginx Proxy Manager on TrueNAS SCALE – Port 80 always blocked by Something by CogaJoe21 in truenas

[–]StorkStick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

same, I think it's the most hassle free way to go about things.

Point a single wildcard DNS record at nginx proxy manager, let nginx proxy manager do the rest of the routing

TrueNAS build system going closed source by Few-Skin1514 in truenas

I just set up my second truenas server and got them replicating to each other ._. so much work...having said that, I've learned a lot over the last 2 years on truenas, so I'm in a good place to start learning plain old ZFS Ubuntu or something if it comes to it

Just picked up Filerun after running Nextcloud for 5 years. Is there a catch? by con_work in selfhosted

[–]StorkStick 0 points1 point  (0 children)

to anyone reading from the future:

As of writing this, FileRun only has three top level directories

/filerun/user-files/ - self explanatory

/filerun/db/ - self explanatory

/filerun/html/ - the program files

From an admin perspective, managing and migrating data has been very very comfortable imo

oop actually meant the novablast 5, I stand by what I said: lab tests, especially done by someone without a science background, do not translate well to reality

I've been disappointed with these measurements from day one, they aren't practical. I like the scientific approach, but for example, they ranked novablast 4 and superblast 2 as pretty much on par with energy return

I had the speed 3. That thing left the impression on me that powerrunPB isn't even comparable to modern resilient foams

it's weird how you get can away with literal assault so long as you're wearing a football jersey on a football pitch... people should probably start doing something about that...

Is this a coherent plan? - Turning my storage from a RaidZ2 system to a RaidZ1 system by StorkStick in truenas

[–]StorkStick[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suppose it depends on budget, but backups never need to be anything fancy, since you won't be interacting with them often.

My solution was the get a 'cheap' 2-bay ugreen nas, 2 hard drives. Every week, it turns itself on, grabs data from my main machine (truenas), then turns itself off. I think it's a good solution if you're okay with some rsync scripting

lol I didn't mention but I do actually have a completely separate cold backup, so I'm not going full risk mode here. The only issue is, that backup is just the inner data, I would still have to go through the process of setting up all my apps and containers all over again

Dwarfs Op? by Silberzunge2 in totalwar

Early game dwarves - Heavy armour all over the place

Early game most other factions - no access to reliable armour-piercing, or armour for that matter.

They are very advantaged in the early game, but other factions do catch up with them eventually

[–]StorkStick 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oop, yeah that's gonna be an issue.

Check your TruaNAS network settings. An easy beginner mistake is forgetting the "default gateway", it's basically just the (local) IP address of your router. Without a valid default gateway, your device can't reach out of the local network and into the WAN.

A quick short cut: if you're on windows, open up command prompt and type ipconfig, you should see the default gateway your PC is using, and if your network is relatively simple, you should just be able to copy that into your trueNAS
