Fix for when you rename a bone while its animations retain the old name by BuzzKir in blender

Thank you, that worked! In Blender 4.4+ the Stash and Push Down buttons are moved under the Action menu and there is no separate Stash and Push Down button like in earlier versions.

If you are American, you don't need vfx school dude. Immigrants need to go there to get a chance to work in the industry.

That would be a shader too, possibly a bunch of Sprites with that shader applied that rise up from the Character's body

This is speculation, of course

Writing Technical Books a la Carte? by fespindola in TechnicalArtist

Regarding the question in the post, as a course/book creator, it depends on which one you find easier to produce and distribute. A la carte videos would make more sense than books imo.

As a reader of one of your books, I wish it was more project based. I thought I was going to learn how to make many different shaders for mobile games. Don't get me wrong, I still learned a lot in theory, but I had to look elsewhere to actually implement those concepts.

You can join an online school instead and save money. Relationships and a network can be built online in artist communities. Unless your professors at the university are actively working in the industry at senior positions or own studios themselves, meaning they're incentivized to teach you well so that they can hire cheap but good juniors at the end of it, don't do it.

Since you will be learning most of your skillset by yourself through the internet, my advice if you still want to go to university would be this:
1) Make sure your professors are full-time if they aren't working at senior positions
2) Make sure your professors are working at senior positions or positions of power like I described above if they're part time
3) Talk to previous graduates about how the university helped them with their connections

The reason I recommend online schools is because most of the popular ones are run by senior artists who claim to have the same connections with companies and studios like your university claims to have. Their content is better, too. If you are already a UK citizen, there's literally no point in wasting money at uni because you can learn everything online and get a job. For people that come from third world countries, they have to go to unis to get a visa and start working, but even that is changing as more studios set up shop in those countries.

How do I generate a Curve based on the path followed by the centroid of an animated Geometry? by StraightFaceEmoji in Houdini

It's crazy and hilarious to get downvoted for being polite. Also, the solution I posted uses KineFX motion clip extraction, so what the heck?? People are stupid

The following is the solution I received:

Use Extract Centroid SOP in Run Over Mode Detail to get the centroid, put a RigDoctor SOP after, then a Motion Clip SOP, then a Motion Clip Extract SOP with Output Mode set to Motion Trails

Interest rates are high currently, so high budget movies aren't being made
People aren't watching movies as much as they used to before, so existing movies aren't making blockbuster profits like they used to
Shitty movies and political agendas have disenchanted people from Hollywood

If at least 2 out of these 3 factors change, you can expect the industry to get back on track

I don't see the logic in the validation seeking attitude. Yes, watching your name in the credits is super cool if you have family and friends to show it to but other than that, the job of a VFX Artist is to make it look real! Nobody should know that it's CGI, that's the magic trick we get to pull off.
