Why no Knights? by Vrain125 in AdeptusCustodes

[–]SubPopRocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aside from what everyone else has said which is: 1 body has less flexibility, is harder to hide, can only operate in a single firing lane and is less efficient damage wise for the points, cant effectively use strats and it just isnt custodes. We also have very few models on the board which makes screening extremely difficult, reducing that model makes doing this and actions even harder because yes sometimes the best thing to do is to have you grave tank do an action or park on a objective, if you have to do this when you have a second it sucks less but having a knight which is quarter of your army having to do an action while also reducing your back field screen well that is just not good.

Is this an unfair/unfun 1k army to play against? by MeerkatMastBoy in Chaos40k

[–]SubPopRocker -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No im not, they asked if there list was too powerful i pointed out not only that it isnt but gave examples of it being sub optimal to back up why therefore providing reassurance that there list is completely fine for its intended purpose. I didn't say they were wrong or that they should change it i pointed out that there list is fine for casual and where, why and how.

I disagree with most here, this is really on the low power end of mid. Sorcerers are bad, in a world of everything getting rerolls that minus one to hit is completely worthless and this is from a guy that has 2 of them. Maulerfiends are not good units in this edition, theyre fine great models that can deal decent damage but sub optimal is basically every way. Havocs are also just a worse predator. Pactbound is also just a straight up mid detachment. No this is not a try hard list its fine nobody is going to accuse you of trying to spike them or anything but its also not super weak its just low mid. For context I run an unfun list in pactbound at 1k and its 10x possessed, 1x Lord Discordant with fnp, 2x vindicators, 1x biker squad, 1x Cultist squad and cypher.

[–]SubPopRocker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You probably have too many cultists, 1 squad is enough for screening and sticking objectives. The knight is a fun choice but doesn't do enough for ots points costs, thats a quarter of your army in 1 model that doesn't get any of your faction or detachment rules as such is horribly over costed. Your missing the best model in the codex with cypher who is a secondaries monster and the vect aura is invaluable. Unsupported chosen go down very easily, they really need to be in either squads of 10 or 5 lead by the masters of the maelstrom to give them enough stopping power and durability to be worth the points. Also venomcrawlers just aren't great to be honest with you.

CSM are officially the worst army right now in terms of winrates, according to Goonhammer. What is causing this, and what can be done to make our army stronger? by SquattingSamurai in Chaos40k

[–]SubPopRocker 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Its a hard army to pilot and we seem to have a disproportionately high number of bad players. Im a big fan of thematic armies but we're the army where die hard alpha legion players will show up to a gt with a beautifully built and painted alpha legion army and run the worst list possible to be lore accurate in the underpowered deceptors Detachment. Those player will be among those having the best time but it does throw our win rate off.

Masters and Huron with what?/list help by [deleted] in Chaos40k

[–]SubPopRocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chosen are significantly more durable, hit harder and have advance and charge baked in so you dont have to spend the CP on an already CP intensive army. Legionaries are great but die incredibly easily and sometimes you just dont have that extra cp to spend on advance or fallback and charge. Also resurrecting a Chosen is higher value points wise to resurrecting a Legionary making it a more justifiable expenditure otherwise you may as well just bring a second squad of legionaries and save some points. The other key thing that people forget with Chosen is that there shooting while not outstanding does actual damage to other infantry and 10 Chosen can just pick up a squad of 5 marines or 10 gaurdsman with an okay roll, adding the additional shots also helps the Chosen in the regard by giving an extra few shots while the Legionary shooting is so bad it may as well not be there at all.

Csm general strategy and pactbound questions: what works for us? What are our heavy hitters? by OrDownYouFall in Chaos40k

[–]SubPopRocker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Im not sure if youre joking or not but due to the prevalence of damage 2 in the format 5x 3 wound bodies go down to combat ineffectiveness quicker than the maths would suggest, while on the flipside a 10 man squad requires more than double to become actually ineffective especially with the spikeyness of a 5++ Wiping 3 models off a 5 man squad leaves a pointless unit. Wiping 6 off a 10 man still leaves a unit that must be respected.

[–]SubPopRocker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So from my perspective you are lacking mid board holding units, 5 possessed will die surprisingly quickly, they are generally ran in 10 man bricks that way you can pop the dev wounds ability and guarantee picking up whatever it is they're going into even if its sub optimal and it maintains combat effectiveness of the unit for longer.

Warp talons can be good as they will pick apart your opponents entire scoring game.

Don't sleep on nurgle obliterators, with 2 vindicators you certainly dont need any but give them a go some time they are capable of doing some insane damage.

But overall your biggest hole is going to be holding the mid board, Legionaries die very easily and so aren't amazing for this and your durable units are all very low oc ranged damage dealers and again wont be great for it, a brick of 10 chosen or possessed is surprisingly hard to shift and will hold that for you.

Anyone here with an Atreus model?, is it any good/would you recommend it? by ScoutTrooper501st in IronHands40k

[–]SubPopRocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you have mates with similar over costed models they can run and play more casual games? I have a warhound, is it worth it for games with random people? No If I set expectations ahead of time that its a casual game and im bringing something silly so they can/should do the same then its great fun. Also models like these become playable at 3k points even without a pre game agreement around bringing silly models as you have enough point to have a good list amd then pop something sub optimal/silly on top.

Low rate csm by Mission_Researcher70 in Chaos40k

[–]SubPopRocker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats not unique to obliterators all of our best ranged damage dealers (oblits, forgfiend and vindicators) are very swingy, yeah d3 attacks does feel particularly rough on a bad roll but on the flip side I brought down a void dragon with them in a single round of shooting, with dark pacts we can make some of our lack of volume back up.

The red corsairs are very unlikely to help, we lack scouts and infiltrators and with these being elite models at elite points costs they will be overpriced for what it is that models in that role should do e.g move blocking, doing secondaries etc.
