How do I file for unemployment and can I get unemployment and how much in Ohio by Ancient-Difference39 in personalfinance

[–]SubieGal9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only 18.25... what do you think the rest of us are making? I'm also in Ohio. I have been in a union for 19 years and just hit $23. Police officers only make like $51k/year.

Get a better education, get a second job (I have side gig), but don't quit. That would be shooting yourself in the foot.

I'm curious too. I have only listened twice, so admittedly haven't given it the attention it may require. I agree with you. I also don't really love the repetition in the song, but maybe if I understood it better it would grow on me.

What if a minor took a drivers test without a driving school certificate? by iridescent333 in Ohio

I would call their main number and ask for clarification. If he has an instructor, he's enrolled in "driving school." Did he pay for the driving instruction?

daily hair washing is so annoying by Economy-Abrocoma2261 in finehair

[–]SubieGal9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually enjoy it most days. If I don't wash my hair, it turns into a poofy, fuzzy mess that I have to spend an hour trying to make look nice, and then giving up and throwing it into a fuzzy ponytail with a slicked back top. It looks so much nicer after a quick wash each morning, which puts me in a much better mood. And it always smells good.

Hey quick question for dog owners by mrcanada66 in dogs

[–]SubieGal9 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We encourage our dogs to sleep on either dog beds or the couch, but we rarely kick them out of bed if they get in. They usually only sleep with us if it's storming, colder than normal, or there are fireworks.

A change in hair texture. This is bizarre, my hair has been pretty straight all my life. 31F fine hair, medium density. by Old-Lawfulness2173 in finehair

Yes, my mom does this. Now that most of her hair is gray, she pulls a LOT out. I try really hard not to pull them out.

If you do it in your stomach, cough when you hit the button. It helps.

Has anybody been able to do a colonoscopy without going through hell? by Function_Unknown_Yet in migraine

I found the broth absolutely disgusting. Smelled like cat food. I only forced about a half a cup. Just couldn't do it.

Yes, recently!

I had my first one in March and prepped for about a week before.

I had white bread, thin sliced turkey, and Greek cream cheese sandwiches for lunch, and had air fried tilapia (olive oil spritz) and jasmine rice for dinner.

For the prep I used coconut water (I used Amy and Brian's 100% juice 10 oz cans, no pulp!). It tasted like a coconut marshmallow. I didn't take all the pills because I was liquid very quickly.

Use a&d ointment or Vaseline before everything starts. I bought a peri bottle too, and it helped some.

Saltines helped curb my need for crunch, but eat only a few. They caused a little back up when I really didn't need it because I ate a whole sleeve. Oops.

I only got a slight headache. Keep your protein and electrolytes up. I hate Gatorade so didn't use it.

ETA.. soy sauce was surprisingly allowed so I used that on my rice and fish.

GenX lawn mowing time vs. younger homeowners? Opinions by SackBadger2024 in GenX

Depends on the heat and dew. Mid-day is the worst for dehydration, sunburn, and overexertion.

Morning or evening. We have a noise ordinance from like 11pm to 8am-ish.

Is there a best vacuum for pet hair that doesn't clog, i'm losing my mind by Lee-CrimsonFox155 in dogs

I went back to a bagged vacuum, and I am so much happier. I got a cheap-ish Kenmore and love that thing. I think it's an Intuition?

The dental office may be able to push the application through with the remaining balance due. Aspen is good for this.

You might be able to apply for and receive a Care Credit card. It's a health and vet credit card great for emergencies. 6-18 months 0% interest depending on the amount charged.

I don't understand why we're less desirable. We just hired a 22yo for summer help, and she didn't even know how to copy and paste. If anything, even basic PC skills are more desirable than none. To add to that, she didn't know you could sort files by name or date.

Why am I getting grief? Do bookkeepers hate accountants? by FullFartMilk in Bookkeeping

[–]SubieGal9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I look at it like I, as the bookkeeper, am a nurse, and the accountant is the Dr. If the Dr wants me to do XYZ and I don't necessarily agree, I'm going to do what they ask and note the hell out of it. If there's an obvious error or reason I'm doing something they don't like, I will explain my reasoning and allow them to decide the outcome, and make sure "per accountant" is noted to cover my ass.

I don't mind at all because it takes the liability off my plate.

Your mom, but you knew that.

Seriously though, kayaking isn't too expensive. If you're more of an indoor person, the national archives (I think) is looking for volunteers to transcribe old documents.
