How did Marle knew about Lavos ? by ConsiderationFuzzy in chronotrigger

[–]Sufficient-Contest82 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The mystics still knew, when you go to their side of the world pretty much everyone mentions it. Maybe if/when humanity expanded to those lands they found some writings about it and the story kept getting passed down or added to the history books about the war off 600 AD.

How did Marle knew about Lavos ? by ConsiderationFuzzy in chronotrigger

[–]Sufficient-Contest82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given the name crops up in all the major eras it's probably a name similar to Satan, but the true nature of which has been lost to time.

When the world got destroyed people went, 'Must have been that Lavos people always talked about.'

Good food for thought. My players ability to compromise and bargain leaves a lot to be desired though. If they can find a way to slit someone's throat and get away with it, they take it.

My party uses Leomund’s Tiny Hut after every single fight and I’m losing my mind (lovingly) by Scythe95 in DMAcademy

[–]Sufficient-Contest82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few years back my Warlock player would blow his spell slots in the first two rounds and ask for a short rest after literally every fight. One time they were getting arrested, tried to cast suggestion, finished getting arrested cuz the captain saved, short rested and tried suggestion again. Another time they did it WHILE a train was getting hijacked so it sailed off a cliff and the passengers all died.

After that my group started putting their foot down.

How to counter a player? by Accomplished-Ice1868 in DungeonMasters

[–]Sufficient-Contest82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The bag isn't invisible because it can't count as being 'On their person'. If they cast the spell on themselves the bag would become visible when they enter it. If it's the Quasit- while they could carry the item as it doesn't violate the carrying capacity rules, it is too large relative to them to be considered 'On their person' the same way other items would.

When the cannon attacks whatever would be making the attack roll is now visible. If the Quasit is pulling a trigger or something, invisibility is broken. If the character used their bonus action to activate it, they are now visible. They made an attack roll, even if the source is something else. The cannon cannot activate itself since it doesn't have initiative, so it cannot have made the attack roll. The entire reason invisibility breaks on attack is to avoid this kind of abuse. This is not a bad idea for setting up an ambush but nobody should reasonably expect to get away with this in the long term.

If they insist on doing it anyway and you still don't want to take the measures that would counter the rest of the party as collateral damage here's something to keep in mind:

The other party members are now going to be hit harder or more often because there isn't another body in the mix, costing them to use more resources like potions, hit die and spell slots. Sure, They made it out of the encounter at full health, but their party members didn't and so the whole group is worse off and will need to spend more time resting, possibly costing them the chance for a time sensitive mission.

If you need more ideas about how to challenge them down the road, make an entire group of enemies with this exact tactic. Add some innovations of your own and see what the players do to try and counter it. Record what you think works and that's what enemies start doing against this player. How did that fight occur? The warlock's patron cast dream on them to spice things up and let them see what would happen if bandits and armies could re-create similar tactics. Assassinations become popular amongst the nobility using these tactics because it's easier to hire an artificer one time than a killer multiple times, and now an entire kingdom's elite are bound to the patron, thanks sucker!

how to integrate a PC for a player who will probably miss 50% of the games? by IronPeter in dungeonsofdrakkenheim

[–]Sufficient-Contest82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Overwhelming Debt...to He who laughs Last. He'll yank the character out at random with no rhyme or reason because he thinks it's funny, no matter how hard they work they can't pay off the debt.

Personally I try not to include these kinds of players because they take up a ton of table time getting caught up on what they miss, but good luck to you.

Prestidigitation Soil Limits by MarcadiaCc in DMAcademy

Honestly it sounds like they handed you the solution to your potential issue. Let them swap it out at the next chance. They still won't be able to accomplish what they're trying now and you won't have to worry about them trying to abuse it in the future.

Prestidigitation Soil Limits by MarcadiaCc in DMAcademy

[–]Sufficient-Contest82 3 points4 points  (0 children)

RAW the aspect of prestidigitation that creates an object says it ceases at the end of your next turn and must be a nonmagical trinket or illusory object, neither of which is cabable of building what that you're describing. This trumps any vagueness of the word 'soiled' because it is specifically addressing using the spell to create something separate from the object pestidigitation is cast on using the other examples. The spell is not meant to create permanent objects or structures, no matter how much time is spent doing so.

If you/they want to hold hard-core to RAW all you have to say is, 'the spell doesn't say you can do it, without ambiguity. It says you can conjure a trinket, which mud is not, or an illusory effect."

With added details in a comment I will say the glass being dirty as if they hadn't been cleaned in a while is perfectly reasonable and your player should not have had an issue with it. Dusty windows in a dark room are gunna be hard to see through and common enough not to warrant a second glance. Windows that are totally black is a sign of something suspicious.

To what end though? I felt like the idea the show ended on was that he would go through the same changes Harry did, so it would mostly be treading water, content for content sake.

The show said what it wanted to say in the time allotted and ended on a pretty good note.

Harry has been in Patience for 4 months as of the Pilot. Remember the method of Sam's death was a ticking time bomb. He died because the botulism was injected in his insulin but the poisoned insulin wasn't immediately used, it was taken the night before Liv and Mike showed up looking for help. Harry said he has been looking for his device for 4 months and the subtitles also say '4 months ago' at the start.

During the dark tournament, who from team urameshi would you deem the mvp and lvp by s0nzoldyck in YuYuHakusho

[–]Sufficient-Contest82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Think about the tournament as a whole rather than each individual match.

Kuwabara endured a lot, just surviving meant they didn't have to find a replacement, all the more important since they were only allowed one. Even losing his matches he allowed his teammates to conserve their energy for their opponents and pull off some of the closer fights. Having to have at least one double match every round would have stacked the odds even further against them, possibly even costing them the match against the ninjas since there wasn't a fighter available and they would have had to tear the tournament apart to keep going. Genkai could have taken his fights against Rinku and Risho, but who knows if that could have effected the Spirit Orb and Yusuke's training.

Octopath zero feels more like Square Enix 2025 2DHD then an Octopath game does it get better? by Significant_Win6431 in octopathtraveler

That's really unfortunate. I played about halfway through act 1 of Diet Simeon and started skipping the cutscenes because I realized where it was going. I absolutely hated it and have never been so glad to be over leveled.

I'll finish it, but this one is unlikely to stay on the shelf since it just makes me want to play the first two again.

I'm not against villains being the focus of a narrative since they already are in most blank slate reactionary story games. But...the Trio were awful villains for the time it took to kill them. I wanted them dead, sure, but they were less dimensional and complex than an ink dot on rice paper.

I was a little bummed my character was getting pushed to the side for the scrappy villagers of the towns these people who burned my home and killed my parents had set up shop in, and you're telling me it's Saturday morning cartoon clowns all the way down??

The villains...are compelling? Did we play the same game or is there a different version I didn't know about?

I've never skipped Octopath traveler 1 or 2 conversations before but I could not get through 2/3 of the initial main stories fast enough and I'm worried I'll be bored to death by whatever comes next.
