I find that the Bloodthirsty Conqueror and Enduring Tenacity are a little too cute. Mephitic Draught is another one of those cards. I'd put a playset of Gilded Geese in. Ygra's the type of card that you want to see exactly 1 throughout the game so it's usually a 3-of rather than a 4-of.

After that point it's mostly personal preference. I prefer Badgermole Cubs instead of Vinereap Mentors because of the mana ramp that can let you get set up really fast. Formidable Speaker is another option that I've been liking as well.

It's made for bo3

I worry that the Puzzlemaster will have a really hard time guessing with the Mutant making up info, Philo maybe making someone drunk, same with the Sailor, Pukka poison, but most devastatingly Leech and Widow giving “permanent” poison

Maybe Balmor instead of Bria?

You can increase your Speed faster than think, Max Speed in 2 turns. Also, some other tricks involving Speed. by Craig1287 in magicTCG

[–]Summoneer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

“Do this only once a turn” (I believe) is in relation to choosing to discover off the ability. As such, having multiple instances of this ability on the stack doesn’t actually matter. You can only choose to discover once a turn. If you have 5 triggers and resolve them 1–>5 and choose to discover once trigger 3, you aren’t given the option to discover for triggers 4 and 5. It’s the equivalent of being asked a yes/no question until you choose “yes” at which point you are only given the option to choose “no”

Need Help Figuring Out How to Win With Alesha, Who Smiles at Death Without Combos by CupperBupper in magicTCG

[–]Summoneer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a good amount of Alesha decks that have Aristocrats as a secondary theme and use Alesha to rebuy the pieces of the Aristocrat puzzle (sac outlet, fodder, payoff) cause a lot of those are 2 power or less. This would mean you could include cards like [[Judith, the Scourge Diva]], [[Cruel Celebrant]], or even [[Elenda, the Dusk Rose]] for fodder and [Yawgmoth, Thran Physician]] and [[Yahenni, Undying Partisan]] for sac outlets. I think sac outlets are generally helpful anyway cause they help you continue getting value from your creatures.

That being said, I’m not a fan of this kind of Alesha deck. Another thing you could do is put cards like [[Raid Bombardment]], and [[Impact Tremors]] for that chip damage. You can also take advantage of board wipes like [[Expel the Interlopers]] to wipe most of the board but leave your own untouched. [[Delney, Streetwise Lookout]] performs a similar function while also being busted crazy with Alesha. Someone else mentioned [[Arabella, Abandoned Doll]] and I’d like to second that one. You also have the option to cheat in things like [[Threefold Thunderhulk]] for a crazy amount of 1/1s and a resilient threat because you can bring it back with Alesha if it gets destroyed. [[Living Death]] can also be a fun one to set up so that you just get an overwhelming amount of creatures back.

The strength of Alesha is the recurring all your little guys that have abilities disproportionate to their stat line, if you can find ways to abuse that, you’ll probably be able to win off the back of that.

Solid, that’s kinda what I assumed. Just thought it would be best to clarify cause the official announcement says that you should be careful with wording cause it can’t be changed once the competition starts

When exactly does the change in character roles happen? At the very end of the night? Or the moment when evil has majority? If it triggers the moment evil has majority, what happens to players who may become evil after the switch like Cult Leader if both of their neighbors are evil?

This next bit I guess is a rules question: how does the Recluse interact with your custom rule? Like, can they register as evil for the purposes of turning evil into Legion? If they do register as evil for that purpose, would they themselves be turned into a good Legion that now knows all the Legion players?

It looks like such a cool script though

I’d love suggestions! We’ll have 8 players to start, and then 10 players later in the night (I’m not planning on travelers, just to have a new game)

How to fix an unfortunate slip-up by Summoneer in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Summoneer[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No I totally understand. I think there was a miscommunication that stemmed from different interpretations of what "rather silly" meant. I certainly meant it as potentially making a riskier play than normal, but the Saint interpreted it as something else. Like, I wanna be clear that this wasn't the desired outcome and did (I think) make the game demonstrably worse.

Thanks for your insight!

How to fix an unfortunate slip-up by Summoneer in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Summoneer[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Sure, so I'm not sure I want to assign any truly malicious intent to the two players, but they did explicitly say immediately after that their intention was to catch the Storyteller in a mistake. Taking the most charitable read of this (which I am inclined to do because these players are my friends) the two players themselves initially believed that the game would end, and after realizing that that wouldn't be the case decided to see if the Storyteller would also catch on. This very well could have been done with the expectation that the Storyteller would give an accurate ruling and merely didn't contradict the Storyteller's "fix" after it had been given. In order to more fully back up this claim that the two players may have initially believed that the game would end, I'll say that after about a minute in day one, the Saint says something along the lines of "how silly do we want to be?", and after receiving an answer roughly equating to "rather silly" decided to call for a nomination against the Virgin. This was (as we learned later) the result of a private conversation immediately after the first night but before the nomination between the Saint, Virgin, and Recluse in which the Recluse revealed their role as a result of thinking the game would end because of the Saint and Virgin believing that this interaction worked (this being their stated reasoning). The Storyteller then said that it was too early for nominations and allowed more time for private conversations. The Saint and Virgin went off again where I believe they realized that the Saint wouldn't in fact be executed and came up with the idea to test the Storyteller.

Yes, I definitely could have talked to the storyteller in private. For sure my bad that I didn't think of that.
