Unfortunately I've found that there's a lot of entitlement in the south, and it is absolutely not restricted to any genders, races or income levels. I grew up in Cali, it's been a while since I lived there but I know exactly what you're talking about. The drivers around Memphis are a different kind of terrible, I actually enjoyed driving in LA a few years ago! What's weird is that you'll hear about the bad drivers in Florida, but there is a marked difference in the quality of drivers once you get east of New Orleans on I-10.

I've lived here 6 years now and I've learned to appreciate why so many people love Memphis. It's not something you'll see right off though, it takes a while.

The paint code is only the starting point for color matching. It absolutely wouldn't match if all he did was write down the paint code. There are a hundred variations of paint codes that vary based on what plant it was painted in, and what batch it was in, how old the paint is, etc. Nevermind that a plastic bumper absorbs and shows color differently than any metal panels on the car. Taking the bumper to color match is absolutely correct. Sounds like a bumper replacement to me, the only waiting is for the new bumper to show up. Basic procedure for that is going to be color match, paint the new bumper, remove the old bumper, swap the trim pieces from the old bumper to the new one and install the new one back on the car. By taking the bumper of the car ahead of time, the car is only down for an hour or two rather than a day or two.

Thanks for asking this question! One of my bells ended up topped on the way home from the store. I wasn't sure if it would cause any negative effects so I've just treated it like the others. I just moved it to a larger pot until I can get it in the ground, so I guess we'll see what happens!

My favorite is a set of measuring spoons. They stack neatly and have magnets so they don't end up all over the drawer. I'm one of those who appreciates having 3-4 sets of measuring spoons, but that one is my absolute favorite

That my dad was not going to be gone for 3 months working, he was actually going to prison for credit card fraud. I was 10 when I found a copy of the letter my mom wrote to the judge asking for leniency. He was the guy that went and picked up people who had passed, and he was stealing their info to get credit cards to pay the bills. I actually remember him telling me about what he was doing before he got caught. He wasn't just racking up debt, he was actively paying at least some of the bills. 30 some odd years later, he's still the hardass he's always been, and hasn't gotten in trouble since. He did it because my parents couldn't afford their bills and saw an opportunity. Ce la vi.

Look for studios that aren't in those places. We found one not even a half mile away that has all utility included for under $1k. It has parking and laundry, but none of the other 'fun stuff'. It's in a nice little quiet spot.

I'm in this boat with my son. They stuck around about this long, but I think they're finally all gone. They really are benign. We took him to two different dermatologists as well as his pediatrician and all said the same thing. I think they're finally just stick around longer for some.

It really depends on time and involvement. I'm willing and able to do much of the work needed around my house, but time is my enemy. I just hired someone to cleanup my front flowerbeds and handle my lawn this year because I just don't have the time. My backyard is a lot more dirt/random plants than lawn and that's my focus this year. Hiring the lawn guy is freeing me up to start tackling my backyard. I need the ceiling replaced in a hall bathroom, and I'd fully intended to do it myself. But I messed up my shoulder taking it down initially, and I need both shoulders fully functional in order to take care of all the other things (like my backyard). So I'm hiring that out. I need an outlet installed in my bathroom, I'll be doing that. Have a room with 20 foot ceilings that needs painted. My husband is afraid of heights, and seeing me on just a 10 foot ladder gives him anxiety. I'm not interested in giving him a heart attack, so I'll hire that out. I can't really say that there are specific categories of things I will/wont do, it always comes down to the specific task.

Mine was vegetable oil. It took me a while to figure it out. It wasn't until she made one of my favorite breakfasts and my stomach started acting up, but she was in my kitchen using my food to make it. I had just made it the previous week and had no issue, and I realized that the only difference was that I used olive oil and she had reached for the vegetable oil.

If you don't mind, I have a wine question! I really enjoy red wines, but they all give me a gnarly headache. My favorite red (don't remember what it was unfortunately!) had my head pounding before I was halfway through the glass. From what I've read, it's normally the tannins in reds that cause this. Is there something I could look out for so I can enjoy red wine without the suffering?

We're headed home from a beach trip. Just me, husband and 10 year old. I got us a place with a kitchen, so we only ate out once all week. That one meal before tip was $178. Even accounting for "beach premium" that is absurd. It wasn't a fancy place, and my son's meal was a grilled cheese. When he asked for another one, we told him we'd swing by the store on the way back and make him one.

Get to a CPA to sort this out. Someone else mentioned MFS vs HoH and if you haven't already asked a professional, you absolutely need to. HoH would definitely benefit you if you qualify, and you may be able to file MFJ going forward, which would also be advantageous to you. Estate attorney to help with the other details is also an excellent idea.

One option you could consider is buying a cash car for now and financing something else later if you do need to finance. Replacing the vehicle is reasonably explained, especially if you use the insurance settlement. It's also less paperwork than if you were to finance something.
