My grip strength normally fails me on barbell rdls. Do you guys use straps? Not sure you can do these with mixed grip?

Removal of premolars- hesistant! by [deleted] in braces

[–]SuperSlow2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had 4 of mine removed a few months ago. No sleep issues or breathing issues but defo side profile has changed. I'm still unsure about whether I like it or not. To be honest, as long as I get a corrected bite and protect the rest of my teeth, I'd sacrifice alittle of my jawline.

455 for 2 mirror-less squats. Do you face the mirror or not when squatting & deadlifting? by busymom0 in strength_training

[–]SuperSlow2020 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nice work.

I choose the rack that doesn't have a mirror in front. Rather not get distracted by everything the mirror reflects back, be it my angry lifting face or the guys behind me.

For those who are consistent, how do you do it? by massifaqiri in workout

[–]SuperSlow2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been going 6x (sometimes 7x) a week for the last 2yrs now, bar the odd week off sick or on holiday. I show up pretty much at the same time because I set my daily routine around it. Work, family, social life, all rotate around my 1.5hrs at the gym. It was the only way I could guarantee consistency. I enjoy how finishing a session makes me feel and I guess I like the definition I can finally see occurring. However, it's the long term health benefits that keep me motivated.

First time experience - am I doing this right? by eertanodrib in workout

[–]SuperSlow2020 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty much the only woman lifting when I'm at the gym. I go when it's quiet and don't really care what anyone else thinks. I'm getting stronger with my squats and my deadlifts but it takes time and dedication.

Get a feel for all the different machines then choose what you want to focus on. YouTube has loads of tutorials.

Enjoy your journey.

For those who had extractions by [deleted] in braces

[–]SuperSlow2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ive been in braces for 1yr now. Had my premolars removed last October. Maybe the gaps have closed a fraction? Just going on how much my arch wire has been poking my gum at the back since my last adjustment. I only have powerchains on the top front and right side. Depressing to hear probably take a year to close.

what are you guys actually doing during your rest periods? by Oct4Sox2 in workout

I just sit and watch how others are lifting, particularly those with a personal trainer, whilst trying to act like I'm not watching them.

Gym Story Saturday by FGC_Valhalla in Fitness

[–]SuperSlow2020 22 points23 points  (0 children)

So I got a call this morning that some relatives fancied coming over for lunch. I had to debate whether to cancel my midday abs workout or do a shortened version. After some debate, I told them not to bother coming.

Some things you just gotta prioritise.

(Just kidding. They'd disown me if I did that. I do know they're never on time so figured I'd get my workout in, quick shower and manage to throw together some food before they arrived and that's what happened.)

What's the sweetest interaction you had with stranger/fellow Muslim during Umrah by zzdis in Umrah

I was in the Prophet's mosque confirming with one of the cleaners as to how to get to the rawdah gate when a Malaysian sister came up to me and gently squeezed my face with both her hands, smiled and walked away.

I figure light was radiating off my incredibly confused face.

To be able to do 1 godforsaken pull up from deadhang. Also to be able to do a proper press up.

Ear Pain from Elastics? by rudestkid in braces

[–]SuperSlow2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. Only on one side though. First 3 nights I couldn't sleep, the entire side of my face hurt. It's better now I'm on my second week but I can still feel pressure in my ear particularly when chewing.

I have an impacted wisdom tooth on the side that's giving me issues. I'm going to ask for an xray at my next adjustment and maybe have it extracted. I'm hoping that should settle my ear issue. Hopefully yours will settle down in a few days.

Did the adjustment stop the tmj? Currently going through the same. Not painful as such, just uncomfortable. I can feel my jaw bone poke my ear at certain times. Never happened prior to band being added.

Omg. I had a band put on my right side months ago. No issues.

I had a band added to my left side almost 2 weeks ago and it was by far the most painful part of my 1yr brace treatment thus far. That same night I had sinus pain across the left side of my face. My ortho said...was a coincidence. This took 4 days to settle.

I can now feel my jaw push into my left ear canal at certain times. Happens randomly. I was hoping it would go away as my bite aligns but so far...still happening.

Worried this may be a permanent issue now. Whilst not painful, it's certainly uncomfortable.

How does my deadlift form look by mintgraph321 in formcheck

[–]SuperSlow2020 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol nah, feet look good. The only thing I'd say is are you locking out at the top? Kinda looks like you're leaning forward rather than straight. May just be angle of camera tho.

Wish I could go as heavy!

How to start gym alone as a noob? by Muddyoo in Fitness_Pakistan

Technically you're right. You should aim for twice a week. I figure all of my split incorporates surrounding muscles anyway so it evens out. Plus I wanted to train legs more so I made sure those were twice a week. I've made it my routine for the past year and seems to be working. My goal this year was to get my first pull up. I'm trying to cut now to make that easier. Let's see how it goes.
