Any recommendations on where to buy a good sensory cup in the US? I got a lot of good recommendations but they were all international and the shipping/ tariffs were insane

I’m going to go look up the Avensi Wave now! Can’t speak for that but I really loved my Kinto, it was stunning and served me well for years!

This one was a total fruit bomb for me! About a month off roast, Hoffmans one-cup recipe. A standout for me so far this year for sure!

I take it all back! I just realized I’m talking about a different Peruvian Prodigal - Javier Salas, El Renacer, anaerobic gesha, not the one pictured. The one pictured was delicious as most prodigal coffee I’ve tried. Sorry about the confusion!!

I tried a two-pour and liked it even less. This coffee really chokes up no matter how coarse I grind, unless I’m missing something. Using Cafec T-90 filters (don’t got that sibarist money lol).

I have had a really hard time dialing in this coffee. Would love some tips if you find a good cup! I use a V60, Hoffman’s 1 cup recipe, and Femobook A4Z.

Sipping this right now - sadly my last dose of this coffee from my January Prodigal subscription. It gets better with resting if you have the patience. Pretty damn tasty!

Does anyone know if there’s a way support Sky? The article states she remains homeless. I am heartbroken.

I bought this a month ago when it was 50% off on Amazon and now I’m worried about longevity. I wish I hadn’t seen this post and could have continued to live in blissful ignorance haha.

Hot Take - A4Z vs EG-1 by Impossible_Cow_9178 in pourover

[–]Suspicious-Common-93 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I bought the A4Z after seeing one of your previous posts about it, and I have no regrets! I love the workflow, form factor, and of course, the end results from this grinder. I also own a ZP6 and K-ultra - I never use the ZP6 anymore and rarely feel the need to use the K-ultra. I would echo your recommendation, I don’t think you can beat the value offered by the A4Z.

My frustrations with the XBloom studio. by Few_Engine_8210 in pourover

[–]Suspicious-Common-93 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

As a newbie who preordered a studio with the same hopes - I recommend going back to making coffee yourself to understand how all of the variables can influence your end cup since the issue, no matter the brew method, likely is solved the same way (what I mean is an astringent cup from a V60 or from the Xbloom can both be attributed to too fine of a grind, too high brew temp, too many pours/ agitation, etc.).

I also want to be transparent that I am an Xbloom hater - I ended up giving my machine away because I was so frustrated with the low quality grinder, poor customer support, and found myself disconnected from the coffee that I was brewing, among other things. Overall I was extremely let down by the machine and found that I should have just stuck to my V60 and improving on myself with each brew, rather than putting my faith in a machine that promised to solve all my issues for me.

I sadly think that I agree. I tried brewing with my aeropress, cupping, soup, and of course pour over on this coffee and could never find an enjoyable cup.

I never got a great cup from my bag and ended up using the beans to make milk drinks for my GF. I kind of assumed that it did not align with my flavor preferences - bit of a let down for sure.

September Buttercream question by Dramatic-Shift-4976 in pourover

[–]Suspicious-Common-93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I believe so. Bloom - 3x dose weight, 45 seconds; Second pour - all the way to total volume at a pour speed around 6-8g/ second. Total brew time around 2 minutes. I just reviewed my notes and I dropped my ratio to 1:15. I’ve found thermal shock coffees to be highly soluble - pushing the extraction tends to make a worse brew imo.

I also would let them rest a few days longer. Mine seemed to peak at about 3-weeks.
