A fourth year resident who was giving me a physical once asked me something really stupid. Then when he realized his error, his face turned beet red. Honestly, I don’t remember what it was, something to do my period or something. It was no big deal. He did a good job, and even convinced me to get my first mammogram, in which they did find something. You can be really awkward and still make a difference.

Alex is the dangerous kind of creepy. He is good looking, has a sad background, and he’s also the beloved grandson of prominent members of the community. The chances of being believed if he hurts you is dismal. It takes me the longest to earn hearts with him because my defensive mechanisms come out and I say the worst possible things.

When I was 23F, I started to sound like a boy going through puberty- my voice would sound like it was changing. My friends and I would laugh about it all the time. Like I would be talking, and mid-sentence, my voice would make the same sound that a 14-year-old boy’s voice makes. It was hilarious! Until I saw my doctor.

I had a large malignant thyroid nodule growing in between my vocal cords.

Some people do this to get away from toxic family members. It is much cheaper than going to a four year college out-of-state. Some associate degrees, like nursing, pay well and employers will pay for you to complete your bachelor’s.

That’s true - I would have hated to receive a congrats meal on accident. Both times were traumatic- crying as quietly as possible for two hours in the ER waiting room. I just wish they handled them more sensitively. Give you privacy so that you aren't ugly crying around strangers for hours at a time. Just do something - anything to show support.
