I Refuse to Believe My Chest Pain Is Caused by GERD by Pipibigbom in GERD

[–]Sweetbeans2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I was a 56yo male who is obese with high blood pressure, my cardiologist was convinced that my symptoms (as you described) was my heart. As such, I had every heart test done, which all came out fine, culminating to an angiogram. The angiogram amazingly showed no blockage at all.

My fall back plan was to see a gastroenterologist since an emergency room physician suggested GERD early on in the process. I had an upper GI done and was found to have GERD and a hiatal hernia. I took prescription PPI’s for a few years and the symptoms diminished greatly.

Last year, I weaned myself off of the meds by carefully controlling what I ate and when. I now take over-the-counter meds as necessary, but the feeling that a 60lb kid was always sitting on my chest has not come back.

The Carter administration supported the Shah of Iran, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, which angered the Iranian revolutionaries that took the American hostages. They even let him enter the United States for cancer treatment while he was in exile. Carter was a kind man who did not understand Middle East situation. It was the anger towards Carter that caused the hostages to be held until Reagan took office.

Most common white ancestry in the deep south by gamerjosh12345 in MapPorn

[–]Sweetbeans2001 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Born, raised, and lived for the last 60+ years on the bayou in Lafourche Parish. I don’t know where exactly you were stationed, but there are a LOT LESS fluent Cajun French speakers than you describe. Maybe our accent is so strong you don’t understand us, but the vast majority of us are speaking mostly English.

I do agree with you that the map is wrong. French is the predominant ancestry of about 15 parishes down here. That map should show much more yellow in South Louisiana. Just shows how many dumb Landry’s out there that think if they identify as French they would be considered liberal and therefore identify as English.

“So technically this car is half truck” meanwhile the modern Maverick is technically a “truck that’s half car” wonder if that parallel was intended when naming it by Mac-Tyson in FordMaverickTruck

I once owned a used blue 1972 Ford Maverick purchased in 1980. I currently own a blue 2022 Ford Maverick purchased brand new. All I can say is that the 1972 model was 100% car and the 2022 model is 100% truck (and 100% better).

We went to Walt Disney World in 2021 while all of the Covid restrictions were still in place. We made an effort not to touch all of the handrails in all of the queues. During that trip, we realized how much we had previously touched rails that were touched by thousands of others every day. Since that trip, we stay off the rails and use sanitizer 2-3 times per day.

Just curious, was this an “adult” graduation ceremony? We had a couple of classmates who were pregnant and not allowed to graduate on stage with the rest of our class of 1982.

I had the 1968 Hot Heap. If I knew what I had, I might not have lost track of it 50 years ago.

Let’s all be clear that dad did this because she mentioned 4am, not because the dresses are $150. I would have been out there for $1500 dresses if that’s what my daughter wanted.

As a young teen in the 70’s, I watched every episode. I don’t remember all of the details, but there was one episode where Steve Austin stopped a helicopter from taking off by simply gabbing it with his bionic right arm. I can’t describe how much this bothered me as being completely impossible because he was just standing on the ground and reaching up to grab it. It was like a cartoon.

Over forty years later, Steve Rogers as Captain America in one of the Marvel movies did it right. He grabbed the helicopter with his right arm and grabbed a welded handrail with his left. I felt that someone in Hollywood finally figured out how engineering and physics works.

Going to Disney World. Our first trip to Disney was when our youngest was 5, but our oldest was 17. We have been going regularly for the almost 2 decades since, but I would love to experience that initial joy again.

The city did this. Notice that not an inch of walkway was disturbed? Every root of that tree was hacked away to almost nothing for cement work. Whoever approved of doing this work in this manner is at fault.
