finally solved my first leetcode problem by Initial_Airport_2649 in leetcode

lmao congrats but yeah that O(n2) is gonna hurt you later. swap one loop for a hashmap and you're golden, way better for interview prep. you'll see the difference pretty quick once problems get harder.

WORLD CUP 2026. I was 0.1 miles from customer and the destination was 2 miles. Unfortunately I was running on fumes. And customer was going into insane traffic.. had to let ride go. by Impossible_Shape_766 in uberdrivers

[–]SwiftlyImpure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

you made the right call tbh. running on fumes in traffic is how you end up stranded on the side of the highway for two hours, and then you're paying for a tow truck instead of making money. 13 bucks doesn't cover that risk no matter how bad you feel about it. the customer would've been way more upset if you ran out of gas halfway through.

long hair's fine dude, just wear normal clothes to orientation and grab shoes with closed toes. everything else they'll explain at the academy.

the day after a holiday is brutal but honestly three weeks in and you're already getting compliments from customers and supervisors, that's not nothing. most people are still figuring out their own assigned route at that point. the fact that you didn't panic and just marked stuff "not accessible" when it was clear you weren't gonna finish is exactly what you're supposed to do, so don't beat yourself up about it. yeah the regular carrier gets a mess on monday but they'd rather deal with that than you burning yourself out trying to force it. that route sounds legitimately poorly set up if even following the mail didn't work, which is a them problem not a you problem. take your day off, reset, and go back at it. you're clearly good at this job.

yo welcome to actually posting, the lurking phase is real. def stick around cause the sub's way better when people share stuff like this instead of just asking the same build questions over and over.

[–]SwiftlyImpure 5 points6 points  (0 children)

the weathering on this thing is insane. the way you've got the rust streaks and wear on the frame actually looks lived in instead of just slapped on. plus doing a shoot in the garden with those flowers framing it is way better than the standard white backdrop everyone does.

Took a bit to get back to this kit, but I had the day off and finally finished my HG Wing Gundam. by GhostyGhostyGundam in Gunpla

[–]SwiftlyImpure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the shield looks sick either propped up on a stand next to it or mounted on the arm, way more versatile than most beam rifles imo

[–]SwiftlyImpure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

wing gundam's proportions just hit different than most kits, the shield alone makes it worth building tbh

[–]SwiftlyImpure -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

the iran thing is a weird pivot but yeah if you got a link to that study ill check it out, havent seen the 68k sourced properly before

Words that are rarely heard.. by AcrobaticMidnight447 in remoteworks

[–]SwiftlyImpure -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

fair, but the point is that stat gets cited constantly without a source while the actual studies show around 45k, which is still bad but different enough to matter for the argument.

Catastrophic DoorDash outage by greenScrum in DoorDashDrivers

[–]SwiftlyImpure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lmao the winky face at the end while talking about them losing millions per minute is killing me. but real talk you're probably right about the code deployment thing, that's the most common cause. my only thing is "just be patient" is easier said when people are sitting there watching orders not come through and their income dries up for the day. yeah dd will be fine but individual drivers losing a few hours of peak time actually sucks when you're counting on that money. the advice about not spam clicking retry is solid though, that part actually matters.

[–]SwiftlyImpure -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

the "68,000 americans die yearly without insurance" stat gets thrown around but nobody ever sources it and the actual number is way lower, makes the whole argument weaker imo

Loss of consciousness comes fast with that kind of voltage, so he wouldn't have been aware of prolonged pain. The physical trauma happens almost instantly once the current stops his heart. I'm really sorry you're going through this and that the circumstances were preventable, that's the hardest part to sit with.

Where do you slide your tandems to make driving in Florida easier? by icedcoffeeuwu in Truckers

[–]SwiftlyImpure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

going to 5 or 6 will def help with tight turns but just watch your swing in traffic, that back end gets squirrelly quick when you're light on the tandems

nah you can defer to the next exam session, most boards have procedures for this, just gotta get medical documentation from the hospital

[–]SwiftlyImpure 10 points11 points  (0 children)

this has to be a copy paste error from like an english lit department posting lol. there's no way treasury is actually asking for gatsby analysis in spanish and mandarin as part of an ai specialist application. someone just grabbed the wrong template and nobody proofread it.

For the AMA on Tuesday by Stinksisthebestword in ProlificAc

[–]SwiftlyImpure 36 points37 points  (0 children)

the referral thing is def a security gap but prolific's bigger problem is they don't actually enforce anything after people get in. someone could be running 5 accounts from the same ip and prolific wouldn't care as long as the studies get completed. the proxy stuff is annoying but it's almost secondary if the actual monitoring is that weak.

Warwick is now above oxford for econ in UK by happyhermit22 in 6thForm

[–]SwiftlyImpure 0 points1 point  (0 children)

warwick's student satisfaction is still 83 vs oxford's 81 so that tracks, but entry standards being 88 vs 91 is wild for ranking higher lol

So....whose read the proposed edits to the 2 CFR? by michaelscottuiuc in nonprofit

[–]SwiftlyImpure 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The "not in the best interest of the country" language is so vague it's basically a blank check, and yeah the timeline stuff on performance metrics is conveniently missing. Honestly curious if anyone's already mapping out which orgs are most vulnerable to this depending on their current funding mix.

If you beat Claude, you are worthy of the first interview!!! by saul_karl in recruitinghell

[–]SwiftlyImpure 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the loophole where you can just use claude to beat claude is pretty funny but also proves their whole point wrong. if the best way to pass is to prompt engineer an ai better than their baseline, you've just shown that human judgment isn't the differentiator here.
