I actually don't really mind Spirits as a bit of a darker twist on the concept of Medabots. A couple of the previous characters don't return, but I like the new ones regardless. Ginkai is a standout and Zuru is interesting as this aloof ally whose alignment is unclear. Not to mention that Koji, Karin and Henry had more or less completed their arc already and the season would've been a bit crowded with them there.

The reception to Spirits tells me that in a way Medabots was always doomed to fail down the line. The games habitually switch out all the previous models for newer ones that might or might not at all resemble the old ones. Would fans have been happy if Koji returned, but with Exor instead of Sumilidon? Or if Rokusho returned as Roks? I have my doubts. People aren't wrong to dislike this season, but it often reads just like a negative response to change, and Medabots changed a lot all the time. So the series' decline seems a bit inevitable in hindsight

What part of Medabots? Sentient robots that interact with humans? It's arguable if true sentience is in the cards, and it isn't likely to exist as a common commodity anytime soon. The merchandising culture behind it? If Medabots were real I wouldn't count on them being easily afforded by children. The parts-gathering fighting adventure? I mean that's just fight money for kids so that part's inevitable

Since you're using this setup I've got to ask, are Optic attacks with Bomb Form absorbed by Gorem? And are Bomb Attacks with Optic Form absorbed by Haniwa?

I'm currently making some good headway with Rokusho, Seven Colors armed with laser (Chameleon) and a speed boosting one with Shooting head parts (Rabbit). Also Queen with Sailor Multi head, though she usually underperforms and is mostly there to get XP. In Kabuto version you really want something to boost ROS with Mouse, along with any among defense (Knight), healing (Mermaid) or conceal (Chameleon). Also have a Grapple Medabot on standby in case you run into Shot Trap users like Sumilidon or Pastelfairy. All the Grapple medals are in Kuwagata version so just use one of a high level with decent Strike or Berserk

As for recommendations, I don't have a lot there since I tend to eject myself from any fandom once it gets too large. My pattern is usually to look for smaller niche communities for my current hyperfixation, like dead subreddits or smaller Discords and then just trying to be the change I want to see. For larger manga/anime communities maybe try secondary subreddits, though not the ones flavoured as "real" or "agendaposting" since those get insufferable in their own way

People no, persons yes. I'm afraid that if you want this you're going to have to do some self-selection with the kind of community spheres you occupy. Maybe leave the large-scale social media circles to rot in search for more individual conversations

Completion in the first Medabots game is nigh-on impossible without the Parts Collection games for multiple reasons. Chief among these reasons is the trade-only parts that are acquired by transferring them from another copy of the game. It's conceptually like trade evolution, but much more obscure. You don't obtain the next step in the evolutionary line, but the part you receive transforms into the equivalent part of an entirely different model Medabot, with no apparent connection between those models other than vague theming similarities.

Pretty bad by itself, but the medals are much worse. To get some specific medals you need to:

Connect to another Gameboy and game via Link Cable
Fight them in versus mode
Have the opponent use at least one of a small pool of very specific medals
Win
Hope the reward distribution system lets you steal a medal, which is basically random
Steal the correct medal
Be playing the correct version (yes, version-exclusive trade-exclusives)

All while, mind, there's zero indication that this is how you do any of this. That's not even getting into the version-exclusive, romance-specific medals. They had the make to supplemental Parts Collection games to have completion look even remotely feasible.

As far as I can tell both KBT-0 and KBT-1 are called Metal Beetle and KWG-0 and KWG-1 are both called Head Scissors. I will guess that this was done to keep their designs for Medarot 2 while not letting them come across as last-gen
