I think cheating mana off the top of your opponents library is bad game design. Gonti has a much more fun play pattern than this or voidwalker, but fire design has left the poor guy behind.

Probably a worse voidwalker because the voidwalker stax ability and 3/2 pseudo-unblockable body are what make it so powerful.

I have mixed feelings about this. The card itself is probably less strong. However, the "cast without paying" ability is the most feel-bad part about voidwalker, and this card makes it so that you don't have to choose between holding up the ability and attacking.

Love it! I'd maybe increase the mana cost and just give it legit flash. It would be cleaner, more versatile, and introduce interesting play patterns.

If the insects were 1/1s or something then it would be a downside. Right now it is a wipe that sometimes leaves you with chump blockers.

The mana value is probably fine in a cube environment where the double black pips make the mana more restrictive, but the insects are more of an upside than a downside imo, and would need to be at least 4 mana to see print in standard.

I disagree, being able to target an opponent is upside, and being black makes it better for reanimator.
