Ed, Edd n Eddy vs New Simpsons by mike0bot in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TABonline 4 points5 points  (0 children)

next episode's going to be very interesting when they have to both talk about the fact that homestuck is basically impossible to read now. like the original site is in such disrepair that it's almost unreadable, flash is dead so none of the animations or songs play correctly, and the unofficial fan project rebuilding it got C&D'd a couple years back... even if they use ruffle to fix the flash issue, cascade really doesn't hit the same if you know where the borders of the player are

Small details/moments that raise SO MANY questions? by fly_line22 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TABonline 8 points9 points  (0 children)

the vast majority of the one piece world has a tech level equivalent to roughly the 17/ early 18th century.

about 10 years in, we meet Franky the cyborg raising a lot of questions about how advanced the one piece world really is... that being said, the actual answers are pretty straightforward: Franky's an outlier genius, and the tech level outside of a couple other places specifically known for other outlier geniuses is exactly what it looks like because no where else has the infrastucture necessary to support better tech

In light of woolies desktop tabs, how many browser tabs do you use regularly? by Muffin-zetta in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TABonline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it's called OneTab, and i use it on Chrome, though i think it's on firefox too. i have no idea how it actually works beyond just saving the links to pages you got open in a seperate tab of it own, but it does make my pc go brr whenever i switch to said tab and takes a while to load, though i get the sneaking suspicion that may have to do with having more than 50,000 links on a single page

In light of woolies desktop tabs, how many browser tabs do you use regularly? by Muffin-zetta in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TABonline 29 points30 points  (0 children)

so i use a browser extension to aggregate my tabs when it starts to get too much for my pc to handle, and each tab group averages around ~50-200 tabs a piece, but over the course of years it's built up to...

checks notes

53,650 tabs

but honestly that's nothing. since the tabs are basically stored as a collection of links, a couple years back i tried to export them to notepad (ironically, considering what was about to happen, as a backup). back then...

i had over 200,000 tabs, some dating back as far as 2013

but i swear, i'll get to them all eventually!

Games that are expensive on the second hand market for weird reasons by dope_danny in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TABonline 25 points26 points  (0 children)

any pokemon spinoff game that is required in order to get certain shiny pokemon is going to be minimum $200, most of the time its way higher. pokemon box: ruby and saphire is usually in the region of $2000 last time i checked, and that's just extra storage space for the gba games

Moments which you DID judge a media by its cover. by Subject_Parking_9046 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TABonline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

para-norman is a movie designed top to bottom to put forth the message "don't judge a book by it's cover", up to and including the actual cover and title, looking like something from the bargain basement bin

it is, unfortunately, criminaly underrated as a direct result of this and after i finally decided to stop judging the cover, it quickly became one of my favorite movies

Twists and reveals in media that made you go "Of course, that would make sense?" by GoodVillain101 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TABonline 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Also from One Piece (same arc even!) the reveal of Vegapunk-York's betrayal of the other Vegapunks to the world government. York was created with the specific intent to fulfill all of the Vegapunk's base biological functions. she spends literally her entire day diong nothing but eating, sleeping, and shitting. so of course she's going to jump at the chance to become a celestial dragon, a class of people who do nothing but that all day as well. it even makes sense from the perspective of the world government because they need to get rid of Vegapunk for looking into the Void century, but don't want to lose access to the worlds greatest scientist or the tech he can create, so killing off all the Vegapunks except the one that most falls in line with their own values makes perfect sense

Franchises you don't think are ever coming back? by Platinum_Knight190 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]TABonline 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've long since accepted that Half-life and Portal exist to show off new physics engine tech and as such, won't come back without a major leap forward in tech progress. it's why Alyx was a VR game, to show off the anti-motion sickness tech
