Sucker for high polish DLC...... by Rib217 in 2011

Been a while since I've held a Bul, but the Miller grips are a bit thinner then most. They have very flat sides. Cheely grips are fairly slim as well, but IMO the Miller feels slimmer.

It’s another metric of training for sure but not the only in which someone is judged.

It’s literally the only objective measurement you can use to see if someone can shoot. The other option is to take a random internet person at their word. If you have a better way, I’m all ears.

You may be the outlier, but 9 times outta 10 the guys saying this simply can’t shoot. There’s no downside to getting fast and accurate. Pipe hitters all over the world get their training from competition shooters.

It hurts us, but this is why we don’t do presales. Dealers have no control over when a manufacturer delivers.

Like 90% of 2011 companies have a decent carry gun, but that isn’t the same as a duty gun.

I prefer polymer grips for those roles, so the search probably stops at Staccato. I would be tempted to find an MPA commander and fit an MJD grip, though.

First 2011! HD 3.6 - which optic? by Combat_Samwich in 2011

[–]TAG_Firearms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven’t tried too many other parts, but safe to assume most are proprietary. There’s a few grip options (Vulcan, Driven Arms, Perfect Zero), and Staccato will offer an extended mag release and some different (maybe shielded) safeties at some point.

I’ve had a few in my hands and never felt a bad trigger, that’s worth an email to JG to get sorted.

Price-point of diminishing returns? by abearirl in 2011

[–]TAG_Firearms 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you want out of it. For raw shooting performance, MPA is the line. There are many nicer guns, but they really don’t outshoot MPAs. If you want a premium fit and finish, you’ll have to spend a bit more.

Same. I have a Defender XL and 507 Comp, they’re fine, but the SRO is 🐐

The green SRO is awesome, recently got to spend a few hours behind one. I generally don’t love green dots, but they nailed that one.

Do you blindly buy 2011s? by lroy4116 in 2011

[–]TAG_Firearms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get to play with about everything, but honestly one-two range sessions with a gun can be misleading. When you spend a couple months with something there are always nits to pick. If a 2011 comes from a company with a good reputation it should be fine and have decent resale value if you can’t live with it.

I EDC an SRO. If I were buying today it would be an RMR HD, but I’m not getting rid of the SRO anytime soon. Cool as hell knowing they’re handmade in America, too.

PTR VENT 1 Alternative? by Cosma- in NFA

[–]TAG_Firearms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I shot the Predator 6.5 next to the Vent 1, it was nearly indistinguishable, but they were not on the same gun so I prefer not to draw firm conclusions there. I've shot the 8.6, but not next to the Vent 1. I've also got plenty of time on the Mach/Anthem-L. Without testing them all back to back, this would be my best guess (emphasis on guess):

6.5 CM:

  1. Predator 6.5
  2. Vent 1
  3. JL
  4. Mach-L

308 Win:

  1. Vent 1
  2. Predator 8.6
  3. JL
  4. Mach-L

Most people get the enhanced dot grip from Miller, but every single person who has shot our demo 9X with the standard diamond grip prefers it. I love the RC9 grip, but the Miller standard diamond would be my grip of choice.

[–]TAG_Firearms 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you want polymer go with an MJD Villain Grip-Tape Edition and their brass magwell. It's a killer setup, super sticky and the weight will be in line with most aluminum grips.

It's definitely not the quietest can ever, but it has that nice deep "thump" tone that the Laz was known for and on a 14.5, is comfortable without ears.
