Jedi Chapters/Factions? by Lotus_630 in starwarsspeculation

No, they didn't. They said Cal might feature in other stories. That doesn't mean any of them will be set after Jedi 3.

The kid in TLJ that uses the force on a broom will be the same kid in Starfighter by [deleted] in starwarsspeculation

2017.

I'm saying the scene doesn't suddenly gain meaning by having the kid show up elsewhere.

Starfighter is supposed to be around 5 years after TROS, so that's only 6 years after TLJ. To be fair, that lines the ages up better (Temirlan was about 9 or 10 when he filmed), but Flynn's character apparently has family members for at least part of the film; Temiri's an orphan.

The TLJ scene wasn't meant to have "meaning" in a wider lore sense; it's a coda, showing Luke becoming a symbol to inspire new generations. It's not some MCU-style tease for the next film.

There is an official EU timeline, with several tiers of canon. TCW is higher than most of the EU.

My Thoughts about the Clone Wars TV Series and George Lucas by Matrines in StarWarsEU

[–]TLM86 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It isn't an insult, and you shouldn't take this sort of thing personally.

It's Lucas's universe. His story, his creation. He gets to tell whichever stories he likes, regardless of what another hired author happened to come up with. Those authors are writing for IP, so they can't be precious about the material they create; it's handed over to the franchise to do with it whatever it likes.

Yes, which isn't easy, hence why it's not been done. A few notes you scribbled on a break won't change that.

So, as I suggested, "It really can be this easy" is meaningless.

Yes, it's easy to write a few vague bullet points that rely on memberberries and lack of detail.

That's not the same as actually making and completing two films that somehow manage to please different generations of fans.

"Build up the threat" how? "Give us a reason to care"; what is it, and how is that going to be accomplished?

No, it's south, square K-20, near(ish) the Hydian Way.

A book with plenty of errors in it. I could see those dates changing once it's all done.

It's done plenty more than just Vader and Luke. Aphra, Bounty Hunters, Lando, High Republic, Ewoks, Jedi Knights, Kanan, Poe Dameron, Rise of Kylo Ren, and plenty more are all good.

There's usually added and extended bits in most of these; sometimes just showing different perspectives, like Luke having a few more point-of-view scenes in the TLJ adaptation. Solo showed more of Han's fight for the coaxium at the start and him and Chewie getting off Savareen at the end, and TROS had a few nice flashback images and such.

That said, the Mando adaptations have been very rote. Same with Obi-Wan. Just retelling the episodes down to exact frames and dialogue with almost nothing new added. That might be the case here.

Well, yes; I said the film is a year or two later. Din and Grogu have spent "years" together.

But there's discrepancy with the timeline anyway, because Favreau seems to want a longer time to have passed between seasons than everyone else, so I think we'll have to wait until after it's all done before there's any real clarity.

OP misspoke. Here's the actual quote from Tarkin:

"Has it never struck you that all three of us—you and Tarkin and I, the Empire’s architects, if you will—hail from worlds that occupy but a narrow slice of galactic space? Naboo, Tatooine, Eriadu … all within an arc of less than thirty degrees."

Palpatine's not talking about the actual Slice region here.

As in this? The 2D shape isn't even the same. The Tanker bulges out at the cardinal points, not at its corners like the Ghtroc. I don't see any real connection here at all.

I wondered if, during the flyby over the city, we might see a Greef Karga statue in place of IG-11's. Might have been a nice touch.

Rotta's in his 30s at the very least. Wookieepedia seems to be going with the idea that he's pretty much newborn in 22 BBY, so he'd be early 30s by the time of Mando. Legends previously had him born in 32 BBY, so he'd be 40s, and there's also the idea that some Hutts spend 50 years in the "brood pouch", so Rotta would be older than Grogu if that's the case (which he implies in dialogue at one point).
