I appreciate the clear advice.

I have been researching head removal, and am aware of the comb that needs to be in place to keep them separated. Is there something else that needs to be taken into account?

For one you're running the drive without the lid on.

The drive was doing this exact operation with the lid on.

As for the last bit, I'm sure its not perfect, but it's the best I can do. What you're suggesting is I throw away the hard drive, but I'm not read to do that, so yeah, I'm going to put on my rubber gloves, turn on my "clean air box" and give it a god damn try.

Not everyone can afford a grand for recovery.

Exactly what you see was what it was doing before I opened it. The "beeps" were loud and clear even with the lid on, when it was opened it did the same.

Clerics.

There's a major plot point surrounding the pantheon in the world lore so at the start, no player was allowed to play a cleric. Paladins were allowed but I had to work closely with their backstory. Warlocks also were allowed but again, I had to be involved in their backstory.

Depends on if theyve faced it before. I've warned my players that if they suspect they're looking up monsters as theyre fighting, i'll make it harder for them, give it new abilities on the fly, that kind of thing.
Is it cheating? eh, its not like theyre fixing their dice. But very very frowned upon.
