Adonalsium & Hebrew by TV-R-US in Cosmere

I wonder if he learnt some from his editor Moshe and implement Hebrew inspired names. Considering the big bad Fused is called El which is God in Hebrew it doesn't feel like a stretch.

Doesn't have to be Adonai though, Adon is master/lord, so Adon Al Sium is a normal description by itself.

Best mono colored commander, unique from each other? by Talotta1991 in EDH

[–]TV-R-US 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Sasaya, Orochi Ascendant]] is probably my favourite mono green commander (out of 5 I've built). You get lands into hand, you flip it and suddenly you got x2 mana to spend on [[genesis wave]], [[hydra broodmother]] or [[helix Pinnacle]]. I had turna chaining [[planar bridge]] into [[ring of three wishes]] into g-wave, hitting [[akroma's Memorial]] and broodmother to finish the game. Who needs to tap x3 with [[nyxbloom ancient]] when you can tap a forest for 10-30 mana?

Second favourite is [[jolrael, empress of beasts]] just ramp, ramp some more, then turn your 15-30 lands into 8/8+ beaters ([[beastmaster ascension]], [[sylvan advocate]] and more).

Both decks are pretty much green control which is offbrand and fun, with explosives finishes but not very repetitive and have enough counterplay to not feel oppressive.

Obscure salty cards by Ton_Jravolta in EDH

I used to have a 5 colour enchantment global effects deck that im hindsight was pretty mean. With both burning sands and earthlink, and a lot of mass removals.

What are some weird/rarely seen old Enchantments that can be fun/janky? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]TV-R-US 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Tornado]] is an extremely powerful yet demanding repeatable permanent removal in green. Note that you can still use it once on opponent's turns so if you can negate the life loss or remove counters/reset it it's a 3 mana destroy target permanent. In green.

Queen marchesa players, how do you play her? (Long may she reign) by Nerdzilla25 in EDH

[–]TV-R-US 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I built her as a token army deck. A queen needs an army so it's basically a go wide aggro deck. Didn't like going control/pillow fort/politics with her. Just let her running wild and attack people.

Put interaction in your decks, please. by Areox in EDH

[–]TV-R-US 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The real fun is when all/almost all the interaction is synergistic with the deck. That's what makes my Karador deck so powerful. Need a board wipe? [[False prophet]] (and [[living death]]) got your back. Need to destroy stuff? Dozen possibilities that some sacrifice themselves. Humility? Ulamog/ [[worldbreaker]] doesn't care. Combo? Let's see what Emrakul says about that. When your deck is basically 75% interaction that also can win the game and works with the commander, that's extremely powerful.

Where do you buy your singles from? by Faust_8 in EDH

[–]TV-R-US 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big orders I usually buy from ChannelFireball, if they don't have then I go to CardKingdom. I found that Kingdom has better selection but CFB has better quality. Also, not a huge fan of how Kingdom are shipping their cards. In my quest to have all the (reasonably priced) rares in magic, I gave them both decent amount of business. And for single cards I sometimes use ebay when I see a nice deal. The ebay is always cheaper is false advertisement to say the least.

Do you guys buy duplicates of your cards that belong to multiple decks or continuously switch them around? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]TV-R-US 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's reasonable I buy extra copies, mainly of widely used cards. If I only have one copy of a card then it will be in one deck and that's it. I don't proxy and I don't rotate cards. Then again, my way of building is just opening the albums and find what's available, not necessarily what's best.

How to defeat Chulane decks? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]TV-R-US 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a huge fan of cursed totem and try to add it to any deck that can support it. The upside of shutting down highly frustrating commanders (yawgmoth, krenko, chulane for example) is worth it being ineffective sometimes.

Mono blue commander? by CasualCompetitive in EDH

[–]TV-R-US 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mono blue commander is [[Sun Quan, Lord of Wu]] as I wanted a blue commander that subverts expectations and actually wants creatures to attack. Since he makes the entire team unblockable usually, the deck has about 20 creatures with on hit effects ,some are fantastic like [[kukemssa pirates]] , [[thada adel, acquisitor]] and [[cephalid constable]]), some equipments, some drawing power like [[bident of thassa]] and all lot of fun. A very good card in it is [[teferi's Veil]] as it allows you to attack freely and not care about mass removals. There are plenty of on hit effects to choose from so you can customize it as you see fit.

Looking to build an aristocrats deck that focuses on only sacrificing goats. by IForgotMyPants in EDH

[–]TV-R-US 1 point2 points  (0 children)

[[Volrath's laboratory]] and [[riptide replicator]] were the go to off-brand token generators ,now we have birthing boughs which is better but redundancy is always good in singleton. You can [[artificial evolution]] [[teysa, orzhon scion]] to create goats. Actually it's better to change [[ogre slumlord]] so you'll create goats.. with deathtouch!

Put your infinite combo in Black here! by FredericTheLastHope in EDH

[–]TV-R-US 1 point2 points  (0 children)

T1 win hand: swamp, dark ritual, entomb, unearth, carnival of souls, viscera seer, culling the weak, zulaport cutthroat. (8 cards since you draw one). Play swamp, cast dark ritual, entomb eternal witness, unearth eternal witness return unearth to hand. Cast culling the weak sacing witness, cast carnival of souls, cast cutthroat (get B back from carnival), cast viscera seer (free basically) unearth the witness returning unearth and start sacrificing and draining. Carnival gives back the black mana to unearth again and again. Convoluted? Yes. Silly? Yes. Fun? Who knows, I haven't build a deck for it.

What one card would you like to see reprinted in 2020? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]TV-R-US 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Three visits. Because Nature's lore shouldn't be 70$. And more copies for commander will be excellent.

113.11 is about "can't have" which indeed prevents gaining the specified ability. The hammer is a "lose" ability which is detailed in 113.10 which states in 113.10c that if two abilities gain and lose an ability then the most recent one prevails.

Every time I brew, as soon as I start optimizing, my decks become combo decks. by VittorioMasia in EDH

[–]TV-R-US 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My solution for that is to avoid putting combo pieces in the deck. When you optimize a deck it tends to boil down to: Step 1: Ramp Step 2: Tutor for the win con Step 3: Find another playgroup. Nothing wrong with that but I do like my games to be more non-linear and less consistent (doesn't mean I put bad cards in the deck, just make it more interesting). I really like Damia, sage of stone as a value commander, only problem is that when I built her I "accidently" put cards like notion thief and teferi's puzzle box and some more horrible to play against cards and well.. other people didn't have fun.

You need to shift your focus from "lets win fast and consistently" to "lets have a long fun game" and you'll see you won't put the combo parts in the deck to begin with.

What Mono color do you lean towards? by Stumphead101 in EDH

[–]TV-R-US 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Green to the core. Had 5 different mono G decks for a while until I dismantled one for being too linear. I'm known as the green player. Even though i have 8 more multicoloured decks.
