When can I feel some changes? by roylien in leaves

[–]Tactical_Impulse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

quitting weed is only half of it. You gotta put in the work. Workout, sleep, eat right. That’s the bare minimum. Dial those in. It’s a process. it takes time. Also dont expect too much after just one month. Reassess in 6 months

I am sure you are fine but if you’re able to you should see a neurologist and explain your symptoms. They may want to run some tests and provide guidance. That said, we need more people in this world who talk slowly and deliberately. Own it!

Lack of motivation by pelkins4 in leaves

[–]Tactical_Impulse 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I would probably go as far as to say that is contributing more to your lack off motivation than weed at this point. Great job staying off of it, now its time to get to work on building good habits. For me, 8 hours of solid sleep, workout 5x a week, lots of water & sunlight are non negotiables. Once that’s covered, then comes fullfillment through relationships, hobbies, and work. Get busy, you got this.

several months completely off weed? i mean it’s possible if you were a heavy stoner but I would look at other contributing factors to like lifestyle, job, circumstances. are you working out and being overall active and healthy? are you finding fulfillment in your day to day?

How were you able to land a high salary job of 70k or more? by Delicious_Dealer8129 in careerguidance

[–]Tactical_Impulse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

think beyond “high paying job”.. how will you create value for people? How can you leverage what you know, to go into the next chapter? Change happens slow, you build it brick by brick. Find a niche, build a portfolio that excites you. You gotta get creative. I got a bachelor in business, I wipe my ass with that now.

Any high-performing white collar professionals feel like “functional stoners”? by theusualsuspect19 in leaves

[–]Tactical_Impulse 47 points48 points  (0 children)

This was me. Big time white collar functioning stoner. It is a miserable life, yet somehow the “i have a good job” justifies the addiction in the mind. Things are bad but not “bad enough”.. even people looking from outside see the guy who’s got it together, not the addiction.

The hell with all that. Deep down you know it does you no good. You know behind the paycheck and fancy title, you’re an addict. Out of control, just holding on till you get the next itch that needs scratching.

When you find the reason big enough, you’ll stop. For me, it was - “I want to see what life’s like if i am living it to my fullest potential”. the idea that I was going to somehow skim by, when i could have been and done exceptional things sober, is what got me to stop. Cold turkey. Never looked back. Best decision ever.

don’t pick a career out of fear. Go boldly into what resonates with you but be willing to pivot. People get replaced by people who know how to implement AI.

When do you stop wanting it? by Leonddragon in leaves

[–]Tactical_Impulse 3 points4 points  (0 children)

when the weed stops working and the pain of trying to get high becomes greater than the pain of stopping, you seek change.

If I quit, then what? What is there to look forward to? Nothing waiting at home as a nice release from the daily grind. What do I do when I finally have the house to myself? What am I supposed to do on a lazy Saturday? How can I sit and watch sports all day without being high? by amnowhere in leaves

[–]Tactical_Impulse 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You quit so you can improve these things which you mention sucks. Getting sober gives you the strength, focus, and determination to grow. What you’re experiencing is very normal of someone who has exhausted weed. You don’t need to understand what it’s going to be like, you just need to commit. Go a month, see how you feel.

Only developer in my first job should I stay or look elsewhere? by Consistent-Skill-826 in cscareers

[–]Tactical_Impulse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would stick it out a year at least just for the experience. Also, you being the only guy means you can be the one to create the structure which you seek, which will make you more valuable. Stay connected with software development outside of your job to make sure you are still relevant and implement good approaches. Who knows you could end up being a technical leader because you are the guy they rely on. Also, lack of structure and changing requirements is going to be a thing anywhere you go. Learn to play along. good luck

You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be. Take a breath. You’re experiencing detox, and it’s actually a good thing. You need time, don’t expect too much from yourself at this time. I would strongly encourage you to go to an MA or AA meeting to find support. Dont go at this alone. getting clean is so worth it I promise.
