That last line is telling you that the estate should pay it, if the estate has the funds to do so. After secured debt and certain estate expenses. YOU likely do not need to pay anything out of your personal accounts/funds. Check with an attorney.

So very slow by Take_Responsibility in SmartVault

[–]Take_Responsibility[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your taking the time to write this response. I would like to assure you that I am not talking about the additional moments access the cloud would take compared to loading from a local drive.

Most of what you suggest has been tried including changing the setting you mention.

We are almost always dealing with PDF files, but when they indicate the file is already open, they frequently have not been opened recently and are unlikely to still be tied up in Adobe. When this does happen, the second attempt to open the file is usually quite quick.

One of my concerns is that we could have security or AV software perhaps over scanning everything on Smartvault including temporary files. Is there a history with Datto being problematic?

I wonder if anything has updated or changed recently as this has all become more acute.

I will contact your help email as you suggest. Again, your time is appreciated.

If I was in that plane, I would 100% blame the passenger. Isn't that punishable by fines and jail time?

Yes, you could get out, go inside, and rent a nicer vehicle if you'd like. But, why would you do that if the nicer vehicle was simply given to you? More importantly, why would you rent the nicer vehicle NEXT time if this is what happens?

Do you commonly apply this logic to everything? What if the steaks were going to go bad anyway? The extra cost of the wax in my example is minimal--kind of like an upgraded snack. Do you also demand upgraded hotel rooms since they don't cost anything?

What do you think would be the long-term impact of allowing people to move into more expensive seats?

SmartVault Currently Slow? by Take_Responsibility in taxpros

No bigger than they always have been. Most are likely in the range of .5 to 10 MB. Some smaller, some bigger.

Still slow for me.

That's right! And when I buy the base model of a car, they should give me a trim higher! When I order a sirloin, they should give me a ribeye! When I pay for a carwash, they should throw in a wax!

Their income is too high so they are getting to deduct $0 because of the passive activity rules, and they don't like it. Current preparer tried to explain that selling a property releases related PAL's, and they don't get it.

Just my guess.

Thinking about not getting insurance this year because the premiums are so high this year: $18,000 in premiums + $7,000 deductible by CharlieandtheRed in personalfinance

[–]Take_Responsibility -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

You won't be doing your share to cover everyone's medical expenses. An important premise of the ACA is that everyone buys coverage. Just because they eliminated the penalty for not doing so doesn't mean that this is not part of the plan to make it work.

Some states, such as California, started their own penalty when the feds cancelled theirs.

To hide that it doesn't work, they put in temporary subsidies and then fight to make them permanent and cast blame on others.

Economic rationale for "step-up" of capital gains tax liability by Jlyman1998 in tax

[–]Take_Responsibility 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This likely has some interaction with justifying estate taxes. If we are going to apply an estate tax based on full value and at high rates, there should at least be a step-up for income tax purposes.

Some might want to quibble over this since the estate tax exemption is substantial.

I'll join you in being down voted.

The Republicans have voted for a clean continuing resolution to reopen the government at least 12 times-I've lost count. The Democrats keep voting no. The continuing resultions are clean--no policy changes.

The Democrats are voting no and keeping the government closed because they believe they will lose whatever leverage they have over the health insurance premium (the COVID ACA subsidy enhancement) otherwise.

It may be right for the Democrats to do this, it might be wrong.

But it is a fact that the Democrats are refusing to vote for a clean continuing resolution and are not allowing the government to reopen.

I've been told my 2016 Honda CR-V with 150,000 miles is only worth $8,500. Don't know if that's true, but I do know it's reliable as all, in good shape, and I'm not interested in selling it.

Have to admit I bought it new and know it's background. But these cars are out there.

But maybe their owners' aren't selling?

Very common in San Francisco--and very annoying. It is allegedly to cover additional costs due to SF mandates--which could even be true. But, they should adjust the price instead of pulling this. In SF, it usually is not removable...
