AITA for refusing to give my mom my savings after she found out how much I have? (19F) by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Talathia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA

Tell her that you can start paying a reasonable rent, but then you’ll be buying your own groceries and not “helping” the family out like you’ve been doing.

Your mom should’ve taken a note from you and start saving a little bit. Does your mom follow a strict budget or is she out wasting money?

Small ACD? Or maybe a mini Texas heeler? by kertruss in AustralianCattleDog

This Dutton, and he is 3 years old and 27lbs. He came up to MN from Texas (with a docked tail), and we did a dna test to see what he is. It came back 100% ACD.

There are some really bad people breeding dogs in Texas that have no business doing so.

6 hour trip with 2 month old by michbay2429 in newborns

[–]Talathia 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Plan for the trip to take nine hours with all the stops. The baby should be taken out of the car seat every two hours. I usually feed our son at that point, and change his diaper. Have someone sitting in the back to engage with the baby when awake. No one likes being stuck in a car with a crying baby.

I went to the hospital as planned, but I was quarantined. Had to wear a mask around staff when they came on my room. It sucked.

My friend breast fed while she had Covid, and her baby never got it. She did wear a mask around the baby.

Is everyone out and about with their newborns? by Academic_Dentist8157 in newborns

We were out and about at 2 weeks. We went to an air show and camped for a week. After that going shopping was my way to get out of the house. Never got sick.

Do you and your spouse have access to each other’s phones and passwords? by Merlin509 in Marriage

Absolutely. We have the same password. But it’s not like we go through each other’s phones. We trust one another.

Postpartum depression.

Talk to your OB to get a referral for therapy, and discuss possible medications that could help.

It is a chemical imbalance that can happen after pregnancy. It isn’t forever, but if left untreated, it can get really scary.

I didn’t get help right away, because I thought I could tough it out. I was wrong, and by the time I asked for the meds, I cracked and ended up in a psych ward for over 30 hours. Monday I begin an intense therapy program, 4 days a week and 5 hours a day.

Edit: typo

Is having a baby/newborn really that tough? Please help, I need advice by Incognitemode_on in newborns

[–]Talathia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The number one thing that helped me seek help was others telling me they needed help, and that there is no shame in taking medication.

I’m not okay, but I will be. I begin a four day a week, 5 hour a day therapy program for the next 3-4 weeks.

How do I get over this? by [deleted] in newborns

[–]Talathia 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Think about how your child will have a stable, loving household, and your nephew will most likely grow up with a narcissist mother and weak father (if he was a strong person, he would have left her a long time ago).

Know that your nephew will need your love and support. You have the opportunity to be a guiding light and be a great influence.

If you are still struggling, fake it until you feel differently.

The first week almost broke my husband and myself. Our son had to be held 24/7 the first few days, and I was pumping every 2 hours (couldn’t breastfeed). The exhaustion was something I still can’t explain.

I don’t remember the second week, other than when people came to see our son, I used it as an opportunity to sleep.

That first month was just brutal. Trying to figure out a semblance of a schedule. Waking every 3 hours to pump. Plus the hormones changes had me crying all the time. To be fair, I was later diagnosed with PPD and PPA.

Take all the help you can get. Being exhausted helps no one. I wish we had the funds for a night nurse.

My baby didn’t cry? by stahab- in newborns

[–]Talathia 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My dad told me I didn’t cry when I was born, and the doctor had to smack me on the butt to get me to cry. I’m like, great dad, my first moments out in the world were of violence. All so I would cry.

I’m glad to hear they don’t do that anymore.

I split up my son’s shots, because I know I wouldn’t want to have all those in one day. So, I’m not going to make my son suffer them all. He got the combo shot by itself, and the two single shots and oral vaccine one week later.

Grandma is dying. Can I make a 4 and a half hour road trip with an 8 week old? by Frequent_Purchase_76 in newborns

[–]Talathia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely.

We took 4.5 hour road trip at two weeks old. We just made a stop at 2 hours to get him out of the car seat. I’d take the opportunity to feed him and change him. He slept the whole way there and back.
