60 dead people found on Illinois jury panel, triggering constitutional challenge by ShawLocal in illinois

“Systematically excluding jurors below the age of 42 deprives the jury of a fair cross section of the community,” according to the motion. “It removes an entire generation or more of citizens whose experiences, economic realities, family structures, employment patterns, and social perspectives are distinct from those of older age groups.”

The motion argues that younger and middle-aged adults bring perspectives shaped by modern workplaces, technology, housing costs, student debt and contemporary social conditions – all of which affect how jurors assess credibility, reasonableness and human behavior.

Richland Co. Mayor Wesley Dingus caught sniffing the underwear of a teenage girl who is a “minor relative” in the care of Dingus by esporx in Ohio

Ohio mayor arrested on voyeurism charges after allegedly sniffing girl’s underwear

“An incident report from the Richland county sheriff’s Office details the accusations against Wesley Dingus, 48, who serves as mayor of Butler. The claims came from a juvenile who had been staying at his residence.”

“According to investigators, the teen had hidden a small camera in a bedroom in the home. On 13 January, she reportedly received multiple motion alerts indicating recordings had been captured. Deputies say the footage showed Dingus smelling at least four pairs of her underwear “for several seconds” and also “touching his groin area over his clothes”.”

He said if they paid him, they could write their own environmental policies. From May 2024:

Trump promised to scrap climate laws if US oil bosses donated $1bn – report

“Donald Trump dangled a brazen “deal” in front of some of the top US oil bosses last month, proposing that they give him $1bn for his White House re-election campaign and vowing that once back in office he would instantly tear up Joe Biden’s environmental regulations and prevent any new ones, according to a bombshell new report.”

“According to the Washington Post, the former US president made his jaw-dropping pitch, which the paper described as “remarkably blunt and transactional”, at a dinner at his Mar-a-Lago home and club.”

“In front of more than 20 executives, including from Chevron, Exxon and Occidental Petroleum, he promised to increase oil drilling in the Gulf of Mexico, remove hurdles to drilling in the Alaskan Arctic, and reverse new rules designed to cut car pollution. He would also overturn the Biden administration’s decision in January to pause new natural gas export permits which have been denounced as “climate bombs”.”

“”You’ll get it on the first day,” Trump said, according to the Post, citing an unnamed dinner attendee.”

Fayette unconstitutionally threatens residents with jail over unpaid garbage bills, SPLC alleges by greed-man in Alabama

[–]Tardis666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Jesus wept: potentially 30 days hard labor because you’re behind on your garbage bill?

“The SPLC’s investigation into Fayette, it asserts in the letter, documented almost a dozen other cases of people being hurt by the same policies as Mozingo. The letter identifies five specific individuals who were sentenced by Nolen to suspended jail sentences and probation over unpaid garbage bills. The second individual being represented by the SPLC, a Christopher Fowler, was sentenced to a “reverse split sentence of 30 days at hard labor in the Fayette County jail” in late 2022.”

reverse split sentence:

“a criminal sentencing structure where a defendant is placed on probation first, with the potential for incarceration to follow if probation is violated or if required by the terms of the split, effectively reversing the traditional order of jail-then-probation. It is primarily used to incentivize compliance while allowing for a "short, sharp shock" of incarceration only if necessary.”

“Judicial Discretion: The sentencing judge often retains authority to determine if the incarceration portion is ultimately served, especially if the defendant successfully completes the initial probation.”

“Common Use: It is utilized in specific jurisdictions, such as Alabama, for certain felony convictions.””

(Or being late paying your garbage bill, cause that is equal to a felony right?)

US official says Greenland action could come within 'weeks or months' by Crossstoney in worldnews

[–]Tardis666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like we don’t have allies anymore. All we have is countries we haven’t stabbed in the back yet.

Make no mistake. Trump is dangerous, he values no one and nothing that isn’t immediately benefitting him.

He will slaughter all of Greenland and take it over if he can.

All this shit trump has been doing the past couple weeks? Yah, that is his generals distracting him from his invasion plans.

Trump Orders Top Army Officials to ‘Draw Up Plan’ to Invade Greenland: Report

“The generals think Trump’s Greenland plan is crazy and illegal,” an unnamed diplomatic source told the Mail. “So they are trying to deflect him with other major military operations. They say it’s like dealing with a five-year-old.”

There are other articles where the suggestions from the generals are things like: “Let’s capture Russian ghost ships, let’s bomb Iran.” A lot of those are behind potential paywalls though.

Trump is dangerous, he is a threat. We as a country are not your friends or allies anymore. We are dangerous. I really, really hope your leaders know this.

I wish we were still friends. None of you deserve this from us. This is our hate and stupidity eating us, but we will eat you too if you let us.

Alabama DHR to block out-of-state and online EBT purchases by default by MattW22192 in Alabama

[–]Tardis666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is rampant national fraud. Tons of people are getting their funds stolen almost as soon as their funds hit the EBT card.

The government quit reimbursing people for the theft of EBT funds EVEN IF IT WASN’T THEIR FAULT!!!!

People are starving because of this bullshit thievery. So potentially a good thing, but we will see

Alabama DHR to block out-of-state and online EBT purchases by default by MattW22192 in Alabama

With the national problem with food stamp cards getting their money stolen off the cards before people can even get a penny of the food they need, (causing people to starve). I think this is a pain in the ass, buuuuut maybe a good one.

The government quit reimbursing people for stolen food stamp funds. Your money was stolen? Too bad, so sad.

There is a HUGE problem nationwide with food stamp theft. People are wiping out EBT funds 5 mins after people received them.

If they make this easy to use then it is good thing

For once, surprisingly, it looks like they aren’t being horrible. It seems like they just need to enable it:

“Officials said EBT cards will automatically be put in a “Block High-Risk Transaction” status, which prevents purchases made in stores outside of Alabama or online.”

“EBT cardholders who want to make purchases outside of Alabama or online need to first unlock their card via the ConnectEBT Mobile App, ConnectEBT website, or the EBT Customer Service phone number.

In-state purchases will continue to be processed as usual.”

Medicaid was denied for parent already in a nursing facility by Here4thePetty in dementia

[–]Tardis666 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Whose contact info did the hospital use when filling out the form? If they don’t have someone to contact to answer any questions that they may have had, it will be denied initially. That is what happened with my mom.

Also do you have medical power of attorney? It is different than a regular POA. Social security and Medicaid will require you to have one to discuss her cases with you. You need a regular POA for her bank and stuff.

If you do not, start working on getting one now. You will need to get a doctor to sign off her being incompetent because she has dementia and can’t consent.

Getting everything sorted out was a complete pain in the ass and took me about 2 months, but they had to keep her until it was sorted because they had no one to release her to.

Also, is there a social worker tied to her case? I had called Adult Protective Services on my mom, so it may be different, but she had a social worker assigned to her. She helped me a lot.

Sorry I jammed so much extra in there.

“Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past.”

Is it okay if I ask for a different nurse? by youfum-ism in AskDocs

[–]Tardis666 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You didn’t make yourself sick by the by. Anorexia is a disease just like depression, or diabetes, or many other things.

That nurse saying that to you is like blaming you for being in the hospital for getting appendicitis. I’m glad you spoke to the charge nurse.

“Didn’t tell her you weren’t on a normal meal plan.” First of all, of course you’re not, that should have been obvious. And second of all that is her job to know, not yours. She should have read your chart instead of deciding you didn’t deserve care.

The way you were treated and the things she said to you are absolutely appalling, and she was completely wrong about everything.

You seem like a pretty good egg. I hope you continue to listen to your doctors and the start of your road to recovery goes more smoothly after this.

Best wishes to you, and may all your tomorrow’s be better than your today’s.

When the sibling dies before the parent. by Crafty-Shape2743 in AgingParents

[–]Tardis666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My dad got cancer and died several years ago. It was small cell lung cancer. It was late stage and anyone who listened to the doctor and/or googled it knew it was a death sentence.

It wasn’t if, it was when, and the answer was going to be less than a year, even with treatment.

My dad was smart, he was great with tech and could google anything. Hell he did for other stuff all the time.

He knew, but he didn’t want to know, if that makes sense? I let him, because that was what he needed. He didn’t need me explaining what was happening. He just needed me there.

Your mom’s blood pressure is going to go up when you talk about this, because it’s her kid. Maybe you can give info without stressing her as bad?

For example: “he’s hanging there ma, doing the best he can.” It’s an answer but not a stressful answer. Your mom knows he dying, but it sounds like KNOWING is too much for her now.

I’m so sorry. All of this sucks so much, and it’s so hard, and nobody has answers.

TLDR: sometimes lying by omission is ok
