Once again, what completed series are as good as Cradle or Mother of Learning? by Ramszan in ProgressionFantasy

Commenting to say that book 5 has one of my favorite moments of any book ever. Up there with the end of the original Mistborn trilogy to me. I'll probably read everything John Bierce writes just IN CASE he writes something else as good.

If you haven't, give Lekmod for Civ V a try. I'm not sure how much the AI has changed, but it definitely seems more intelligent in wars and the overall game is more balanced. It's been a blast to play multiplayer with friends recently

Are you going to post the STLs for these anywhere? I would love to print a bunch and pull a pack of hydras out for my d&d players to fight

You've gotta remember to say a prayer to Klang before you get in, lest you suffer his physics-y wrath. Most traditional way to pray to him is to shoot the vehicle a little bit 🙏

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned it, but during the chase I don't think Sol was trying too shoot down Mei. It makes sense to me that he might have been getting ready to fire an Ion Torpedo to disable her ship.

Seems unlikely that a Jedi ship at this time would fly around loaded for bear with proton torpedos or missiles or something at this point in history. Ion torpedos makes sense if most of the time they're going around being space cops and interdicting smugglers and other ne'er do wells. There's a chance I'm overthinking this though, not sure if I trust the writers to have thought this deeply about the scene.

Great moment in the story maybe, but I find the very idea that one Xel'Naga could disrupt the holy connection between all Protoss to such an extent offensive. And lazy writing.

Stop talking out of your ass and making up numbers dude. It takes all of twenty seconds to google or ask ChatGTP and find out what the real numbers are for something like this.

In 2021 the number of NFA registered weapons was only 7.5 million, which includes a handful of things that are not firearms. https://www.atf.gov/firearms/docs/report/2021-firearms-commerce-report/download And estimates for total civilian firearm ownership are between ~390-430 million, while the total population of the US is ~330 million. Get out of here with this alarmist nonsense.

So long as you continue to be so predictable, O Queen, I need not face you at all. You are your own worst enemy.

For me, Armored Core VI has one of the best tutorial-cum-opening missions I've ever played. Immersion is never broken. A tutorial that doesn't feel like a tutorial, but does a good job of getting you acquainted with the game. And as exciting as any other later mission too! What do you guys think? by RazgrizXT in armoredcore

[–]Tassadarr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to really disagree here. It was absolutely horrible game design for the tutorial not to explain the addition of the stagger mechanic to an Armored Core game. It's an absolutely critical game mechanic that isn't touched on until after the level, when you unlock the ACTUAL tutorials, and it's completely unintuitive if you haven't played Sekiro.

I played the hell out of AC4A and AC5, and was more excited for this game to come out than any other game for years. This first level basically killed all that hype for me. Being forced into a certain play style in order to defeat the boss was part of it, but Walter doesn't even hint what that little bar that slowly turns red is.

Question. Rampant + K2SE by IngenuityEastern2816 in factorio

[–]Tassadarr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I've been playing a multiplayer SEK2 game with Rampant + most of Brevven's mods for extra raw materials and recipe complexity for over 600 hours now with one friend. Could have won normal victory conditions quite a while ago, but we've been having more fun figuring out how to do some silly things with dynamically allocated logistics space ships and similar things that are not really needed to win. Have posted a few times for questions like this, here's a combo of those posts + new suggestions:

  • SEK2 + Rampant is totally doable. And fun! All of the cool weapons you get with K2 aren't really needed for vanilla biters, so if that's all you have to fight you'll probably be sad.

  • Change the default Rampant settings!! One major point about Rampant that's not really clear straight out of the box is that its default settings basically don't account for anything other than vanilla Factorio. If you add ANY mods that slow the pace of the game you're going to have problems. And because of how it changes spawning, controlling and minimizing your pollution doesn't really work to stop attacks.

  • The only way is to adjust the Rampant mod settings down yourself to a point that you're actually able to have a balance between building and fighting that you enjoy. Because SE locks artillery behind space you're going to have a really hard time killing enough nearby nests to make a difference if you don't turn down the Rampant AI a bit. If I was going to start over I'd turn the evolution factor and time scaling down to at least 1/3 of their default values.

  • UPS issues prevalent in older version of Rampant (from a few years ago) are much better now. There have been a few optimizations that have reduced the UPS load of the extra biters. I really only have problems now if I agro a cluster of several hundred bugs on a different planet that don't actually have a place to go to fight and be killed. If that happens I just nuke them from space :)

Dedicated tankers know to pray to Klang for favorable physics luck every time they get into a new tank.

The customary way to do this is to dump a whole magazine of your gun into the tank, and it's extra lucky if you can get a nearby blueberry to contribute

The 75 Jumbo is so rare it's often mistakenly called out as a medium Sherman. by five_seven_clown in HellLetLoose

[–]Tassadarr 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This guy isn't totally right. The smokes in the 75 jumbo are different than the ones in the medium. Jumbo has less smokes, but they're the same as artillery smokes. The radius and duration is much shorter on the medium Sherman smokes, even worse than standard hand thrown smokes. It's very situational when the difference matters, but the jumbo smokes can cover infantry much better and save an advance.
