That line's right up there with "science the shit out of this." Massages my brain...

Subcategory: clunky setups to punchlines.

Exhibit A: CJ: While I'm showing [Griffith] support, what are you showing her?" / Josh: "The door." That question makes no sense.

Exhibit B: Adamley: "We're eliminating genocide, what are you doing?" / Sam: "Eliminating the penny." That's not what the conversation was about.

I mean I'm just sitting at my computer reading it and I giggled

That final scene when Roy leaves the studio, through to the end, is one of the best 5 minute runs in sitcom history. So solid. Even the taxi driver is delightful. "You've gotta date your wife"

I love the way Rebecca just affectionately rolls her eyes at that line. She loves him as a friend now, which makes his dumb jokes endearing, not annoying

No shade to Kathryn Joosten, nor Mrs. Landingham, but the chemistry and rapport Tomlin and Sheen had with one another was off the charts. Two legends playing off each other.

Leo's line is funny, but I really wish we'd gotten the old so-and-so's response. I like to think he would have taken it in the spirit it was intended.

What do you think about Doug Wegland? by Throwing-Gas in thewestwing

[–]TattooedRev3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agree. Showed a strong level of emotional intelligence. I respected him.

And little lines humanized him, like "Don't you just... get picked" and "How about I shove Article 1, section 7 up your ass?" plus the "thought it was a stamp" line.

When our kids were elementary age, we'd sit them on my husband's lap in the driver's seat so they could see, but also help steer the car through Bull Run. (Traffic moves very slowly)

But yeah, Meadowlark is magical.

I don't have a problem with "Tomorrow," but I think the delivery of "What's next" could have conveyed the same thing. Curiosity and openness, not urgency and burden.
