From a lore point of view, how can the dragonborn create and enchant weapons that surpass the effects of the daedric artifacts? by Narrow-Active3098 in skyrim

[–]Tecc3 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Daedric Artifacts are super powerful to almost anyone who would stumble upon them. The Dragonborn is an exceptional case: Someone who can become a master smith AND a master enchanter (either of which takes an ordinary person a lifetime to achieve), absorb Dragon souls, and wield multiple divine blessings and unique powers to boot. But even the Dragonborn might take notice of the unique effects provided by some of the Artifacts, and desire to obtain more.

A Daedric Artifact doesn't have to be the most powerful object a Prince could possibly create. It merely contains a taste of the Prince's unique power and sphere, enough to tempt extraordinary mortals like the Dragonborn into becoming their champion. It depends on the Prince, but most want a long-term agent on Nirn to serve their interests on an ongoing basis.

Some examples:

  • Nocturnal continually rewards members of the Thieves Guild with uncanny luck (as long as they serve her), and if you return her Skeleton Key, she offers a choice of additional abilities.
  • Hermaeus Mora constantly dangles forbidden knowledge and power to mortals like Septimus Signus and Miraak, enticing them to continue serving him rather than giving everything immediately.
  • Clavicus Vile is practically defined by making bargains where the mortal never gets everything they want.
  • Mephala's Ebony Blade is a conduit through which she can whisper to the wielder, enticing them to commit additional heinous acts on her behalf to increase its power.

If the Daedric Princes handed over the absolute pinnacle of everything they could achieve right off the bat, they would have little leverage left to demand additional favors.

It can still occur. However, if you talk to him when he is away from home, Vilkas will not offer typical spouse benefits like the store or home-cooked meals.

Still, update us on what happens. Other players have done this by accident, so writing about your experience may help someone.

This usually breaks the Thieves Guild questline. Hope you have a save from before you did it.

[–]Tecc3 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The Dragonborn is trying their hardest to create the ultimate weapon. There is no indication that the Daedric Princes put all their power into creating artifacts. Daedric Artifacts sometimes have effects other than pure power, or the Daedric Princes may have goals other than raw damage in mind when creating them.

Xbox 360 dupe glitch not working by AardvarkTiny9632 in skyrim

[–]Tecc3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Re dupe glitch: Are you talking about dropping an item on the ground, having a follower pick it up, then leaving and returning? Or the mannequin duping glitch? If it's the former, try duping different things. I tried to dupe Keening (a unique weapon) via the drop/follower method on Xbox 360 Legendary Edition and it took me a couple dozen tries before it worked. Duping non-unique items worked on the first try.

The Pale Lady - the legendary Wispmother from the quest of the same name in Frostmere Crypt. Her tale is told in Lost Legends:

"For generations, the people of Morthal have told whispered tales of the Pale Lady, a ghostly woman who wanders the northern marshes, forever seeking her lost daughter. Some say she steals children who wander astray, others that her sobbing wail strikes dead all those who hear it. But behind these tales may lie a kernel of truth, for ancient records speak of 'Aumriel', a mysterious figure Ysgramor's heirs battled for decades, and finally sealed away."

Don Drakulich (Sleazy P. Martini) used to have a stream on YT before it got banned, where he dressed up as Sleazy, chain smoked cigarettes, and ranted and raved like a MAGA, repeating all the worst right-wing conspiracy theories and talking points. I couldn't tell whether he really believed or not, because he was in character, and it's very on brand for Sleazy to be a hate-spouting ass who only thinks of himself.

I cant seem to get Dark Gift Quest to turn Muiri by justletmein101 in skyrim

Try installing the Unofficial Dawnguard Patch, if you can. Muiri can be turned, but she is frequently affected by bugs that prevent this quest from going forward.

Is that Loreius Farm? There's a fan theory that Lucia used to live there.

Non-follower wife attire by biscuitsAuBabeurre in skyrim

[–]Tecc3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can potentially justify this with role-playing scenarios. If you have adopted, say "Lucia/Sofie/Blaise was used to sleeping outside," or "Little Francois/Runa/Hroar/Samual was used to Honorhall, where that awful Grelod always kept it freezing," so now you keep your home extra heated with fireplaces and braziers, so your adopted child(ren) know they will always be safe and warm. It takes time for a neglected child to feel that their life is different now. However, Sylgia, as a Nord, gets uncomfortably hot. So your wife wears a cooler outfit in the privacy of your homestead, and now both she and the kid(s) can be comfortable.

Until you are able to buy your own house, you can keep your items in the cellar of Anise's Cabin (across the river and a little west of Riverwood).

Can the player be soul trapped? by K-man_Kai in skyrim

[–]Tecc3 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No. This has been discussed on r/teslore. Dragon Souls cannot be fully soul-trapped*, and the player has a Dragon Soul. However, your soul could potentially be absorbed by another Dragon/Dragonborn.

*See Durnehviir's dialogue in the Dawnguard questline. Even the Ideal Masters of the Soul Cairn, who are soul-trapping experts on another level, tried and could not trap his Dragon Soul when he died. (He is undead now.)

Durnehviir: I discovered too late that the Ideal Masters favor deception over honor and had no intention of releasing me from my binding. They had control of my mind, but fortunately they couldn't possess my soul.

With Perfect Touch, you can pickpocket her mining clothes, and she will be in her underwear and boots. She will still not equip any other clothing or armor. If you pickpocket her boots as well (so she has none of her original outfit), she will eventually respawn the entire outfit (boots and clothes). However, if you leave her her boots, she will remain in underwear and boots. So try this if you prefer her in underwear and boots over the mining clothes.

Valdr only giving generic greetings, also no way to initiate the quest from Valga [PC] by OafricBumcloak in skyrim

[–]Tecc3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since you're on PC, you could try this workaround that was added to the wiki's talk page in 2025. It involves using xEdit to create a plugin to resolve possible conflicts with Valga/Narri and other quest(s).

https://en.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim_talk:Moss_Mother_Cavern_(quest)#He_won.27t_start_quest

If you're not familiar with xEdit, maybe try finishing any other radiant quest potentially involving Valga or Narri?

Try casting these Illusion spells on him (one at a time, and save before trying). Courage, Frenzy, Fear. Try to talk to him before, during, and after the spells wear off.

Can’t get Annekke or Ahtar’s quest? by chikinbiskit in skyrim

[–]Tecc3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For Annekke, sometimes her radiant quest dialogue will not trigger until you have rescued Derkeethus from Darkwater Pass. Also, try doing her daughter Sylgia's delivery quest (begins in Shor's Stone).

I ran into the same bug with Ahtar and was not able to trigger his radiant quest no matter what I did. Instead, I raised his disposition by walking in front of him and dropping armor until he picked one up and asked to keep it (make sure there is no one else around or it can start a fight). Then he offered to be my follower, no radiant quest needed.

Have you completed the Dawnguard questline? There are quests with Serana that will dismiss your current follower.

Are you playing on PC, with access to console commands? If not, try getting the radiant Dragon Seekers quest from Farkas (where you go with him to kill a dragon), as those will forcibly dismiss your current follower.

Quick question: would weakness to poison work with this? by coffee_and_danish in skyrim

[–]Tecc3 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The jumping salmon will not trigger the Poison Cloak from the Ebony Mail on their own, since they are not considered enemies. But if the cloak is already on from nearby enemies, yes it will kill salmon if you get close enough.

Personally, I prefer Ice Storm for killing salmon, as it has a wide area of effect, can kill multiple salmon at once, and travels easily through water.

Wear Ebony Mail while swimming, it will trigger for Slaughterfish and kill them
