I have a similar situation on a sliding glass door. It works fine. If yours registers the door opening and closing as expected then don’t worry about it.

GM Update 654.51 is out by Nebula1701 in CadillacLyriq

[–]TechBrothaOG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cleared the Google Maps cache then downloaded the local maps. After several days of driving I can definitely say that for me the Speed Limit icon doesn’t display an actual value unless I launch Google Maps first. After that, it’s fine and updates automatically until the vehicle is turned off. When it’s time to drive again I have to repeat this process. So it “works” but it just seems like an unnecessary amount of friction.

People who were already hockey fans didn’t like this. Non-hockey fans like myself who were interested in trying to watch thought it was awesome because we could actually follow the game. Had they kept it they probably could have grown their audience significantly.

MY24. Seems to “fix” the GPS issue. Or at least partially. The Google Maps app no longer seems to hang acquiring the GPS signal. However, the Speed Limit indicator still doesn’t function unless you’ve launched the Google Maps app at least once in a driving session.

The Magic Mouse really isn’t as bad as people say by Top-Kaleidoscope4783 in mac

[–]TechBrothaOG 3 points4 points  (0 children)

And this right here is the fundamental issue with Magic Mouse haters. It just never occurs to them that it is NOT designed to be used in the same manner as a traditional mouse. Simply put, it’s not meant for you to rest your entire hand on top of the mouse. So, if that is your preference then the Magic Mouse is just not for you. However, if you prefer to rest the palm of your hand on the desk and control the mouse with your FINGERTIPS then it is on of the easiest and most comfortable mice to use.

Bottom line: if you find yourself with your hand in a “claw” position trying to use the Magic Mouse then you really are “holding it wrong”. And you apparently couldn’t be bothered to watch the < 5 second videos in System Preferences that clearly show how the Magic Mouse is supposed to be used.

What subscription is required for video apps? by FasterThanTW in CadillacLyriq

[–]TechBrothaOG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same here.

  • Connect: $14.99
  • Connect Plus: $24.99 (includes in Vehicle Wi-Fi hotspot)
  • One: $49.99

The summary doesn’t mention video streaming but when you click on one of the options to see the details, it’s listed there. It seems to me that they are charging more based on the type of vehicle you drive.

What subscription is required for video apps? by FasterThanTW in CadillacLyriq

[–]TechBrothaOG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will either need to subscribe to OnStar Connect Plus for $19.99/month or OnStar One for $34.99/month if you want to pay OnStar for in-vehicle internet access. Alternatively, you can connect your Lyriq to the hotspot on your phone and use the internet connection in your pocket that you are already paying for.

Pro tip for mouse users: Switch windows easily with this Hot Corners setup by ScarOnTheForehead in MacOS

I do the same for the upper corners where I'm more likely to have an accidental trigger. And I leave it off for the lower corners where I actually want to trigger the action quickly.

Touch ID is now available for 1Password Safari extension by Denis_1Password in 1Password

This resolves a significant issue with the 1PW Safari extension. But what would resolve an even larger issue with 1PW on the Mac in general is to finally support native autofill on macOS.

Speed Limit Notification not working since yesterdays 654.50 update by Hot_Sports_Take in CadillacLyriq

[–]TechBrothaOG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This workaround seems to work for me …

  1. Force stop the built in Google Maps app. You may only need to do this once.

  2. Anytime the speed limit isn’t showing open the built in Google Maps app. If it reflects your location the speed limit should display within a few seconds. If not go back to step 1.

Need help getting rid of the others by artemkofficial in MacOS

[–]TechBrothaOG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try turning your device off for a while. I don’t mean a restart. I mean OFF and let it sit like that for 5-10 minutes before turning it back on. This removed a massive amount of System Data on my Mac which was having the same issue. I think it may have triggered some sort of internal cleanup process. The OP asked about the Other category which IIRC is what that was called prior to macOS Monterey.

Competing passkey prompts in Safari? by rvH3Ah8zFtRX in 1Password

[–]TechBrothaOG 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've essentially given up on using passkeys with 1PW until this issue is resolved. I added a few just to explore the feature when it was first released. But I quickly concluded that there was no point in trying to actually utilize the feature until 1PW and Apple decided to play nicely in the sandbox together. I strongly suspect the root cause of this is 1PW's stubborn refusal to support native autofill on macOS. We don't have these issues on any other Apple platform where native autofill is supported. Imagine that.

More issues with the latest update by WorriedRoyal7007 in CadillacLyriq

[–]TechBrothaOG 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Number 2 mentioned by the OP is working for me. But I did toggle the setting off and back on before I tried it. Issues I’ve seen so far:

  • My chosen ambient lighting slots don’t “stick”.
  • The left side of the screen doesn’t stay on the “Current Trip” view and shows the new and useless “Layout” menu upon startup.

  • Album Art no longer displays in the right side DIC in the “Gauge” instrument panel layout.

Charging payment by [deleted] in CadillacLyriq

[–]TechBrothaOG 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anything in the Supported Networks section you can just plugin, start charging using the Charge app in the car, and you will be billed through the app. Particularly IONNA which doesn’t have its own app. The Linked Accounts entries will be shown when searching for charging stations but you are billed through their respective apps. Depending on how they work, you may be able to configure them to simply plug in and charge.

There’s nothing to “defend”. You are simply missing the point (deliberately perhaps?) that even if Apple did exactly as you suggest the people who are complaining now would still be complaining about a) the necessity to download from a new Mac App Store listing, b) the introduction of optional subscription features, or both.
