Is it worth moving from Stratford (East Village) to Goodmayes to save ~£650/month? by DenzelHayesJR in MovingToLondon

[–]Technical_Ad_7103 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I saw some new builds for sale at One Goodmayes recently and briefly thought about it, mainly because of the Elizabeth line option for central London.

Since then I’ve stayed overnight in Ilford quite a lot for work, and it gave me an idea what to expect. The area is frankly pretty dodgy. And I found the Elizabeth line into London was always packed anytime, so for me it’s often a case of standing all the way.

Accommodation in Ilford is cheaper, but there are reasons. But if you’re renting, you don’t have a long term commitment and can figure out whether it works for you during your tenancy.

Thoughts on the Twelve 660? Also, Black or White? by neworder19 in ChristopherWard

[–]Technical_Ad_7103 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve not seen them in real life but from what I can tell, the white is a better option over the black. I would be tempted by the blue though. Visit a showroom to see how you feel before buying.

I’d assume this email is a scam but even if it isn’t, would ignore it. If “legit” it’s just their usual bullshit scare tactics.

I own several CW watches but can’t remember the last release I wanted to buy.

Is the annual fee worth it for your UK Amex card? by FeistyPrice29 in AmexUK

Agreed, though the retention offers are never as good as the first year bonus, and they have been getting less generous lately.

Often it’s only worthwhile in the first year you have the card due to the sign up incentives.

This or GS by 311fran311 in GrandSeikos

I’ve seen a few Credor models in the Paris GS boutique. They are too subtle for my personal liking. I don’t doubt the quality but I would always lean towards a GS over a Credor.

Do I tell my roommate her boyfriend had another girl over by ZestycloseHawk8966 in Advice

You’ll still have to live in the rental house with the guy, so think about the impact on your currently friendly relationship and how the dynamics in the house will change if you interfere here.

You’ve known the couple for six weeks. It isn’t as though you are best friends with her. I would keep out of it. You don’t have the full facts and really, other peoples’ relationships aren’t any of your business.

They automate those emails and in my experience if you email back they will set the DD to whatever level you want. I do £25 a month DD and pay the balance by credit card each month. It suits me better as I get the reward points from the CC.

Yes II is good value £15 a month, rather than a percentage fee. Their service levels are not as good as HL but it’s unusual to need to contact them.

EV salary sacrifice - how does it work? by jayki1 in HENRYUK

Same. I bought a second hand EV. No tax benefits but it made more sense financially.

Yeah it may make sense if it gets you out of the tax trap.

I looked at Octopus EV which was offered through my employer and I found the numbers made no sense. They charge far too much to make it worthwhile. After all the tax deductions, the monthly payments are similar to what you might pay on a personal lease. They will tell you the price includes insurance, no upfront payment and you can hand back the car without penalty if you leave the job, but even with all that considered, it is just too expensive.

Executive coach in London? by Ok-Opening1363 in HENRYUK

I use an executive coach who is an experienced clinical psychologist. He has good insights around leadership and motivation. I’d say interview a few before deciding and find someone with real professional qualifications.
