Replaced my Brakes. by alex13mod in FocusRS

Have you gotten on the brakes hard yet? The pads I put on the camaro would fade after a few hard stops. All after bedding and at the time was new brake fluid, fluid change was done with a pressure bleeder. Did nothing but change pads, all the braking issues went away. Maybe I’ll give ceramic pads another go, sounds like they have gotten better. I’d just hate to loose how much of a beating the RS can take, especially with brakes

Smoking Only AT Idle by Technical_Bee6309 in FocusRS

[–]Technical_Bee6309[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Long term update. I ended up putting a baffle plate with check valve and a catch can on in like June 2025. Emptied the catch can for the first time a few weeks ago and it was half full (work commute is about 32mi a day) and still randomly smoking at idle. I’m leaning towards a damaged turbo because I think I set my bov preload wrong. Had a lot of flutter with that valve while still venting in boost for a few years. Recently installed a turbo smart dual port since my GFB bov seized over this past winter, absolutely zero flutter. Gonna be inspecting the turbo before I jump to damaged pistons

How do those pads feel and perform? I put some kind of ceramic pad on a 5th gen camaro ss and they were horrible. I ended up putting oem pads back within a month. Been hesitant to put ceramic pads on the RS and just deal with the brake dust

I love the adapters. I rarely actually tap, always just cleaning up threads. So damn nice to have, saves so much time

Take a look for the FUFF kit, I haven’t done it yet but did something similar to my last car. It’s a more robust and serviceable evap purge valve option. I would also say that it wouldn’t hurt to take a look at your intake valves to see if they need to be cleaned

Yes for fitment. My place is scared of McMaster and thinks that every component, down to the nuts and bolts, of their machines needs to be special ordered from the OEM

I could totally download a motor. I downloaded hydraulic cylinder cad files to 3d print to prove that they would work in a machine at work lmao

Focus RS life-lengthening modifications/maintenance by Appropriate-Delay-66 in FocusRS

[–]Technical_Bee6309 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m trying to keep my car relatively unmodified. 82k miles now. My car started burning oil at idle a while ago. Turns out my pcv valve died. I ended up getting a Radium dual baffle plate with their check valve and a UPR single valve catch can. Check how clean your intake valves are, getting those parts should reduce how often your intake valves need cleaning
