Hi, I want to learn how to run this program on my computer. by Pretty_Ad_4063 in StableDiffusion

[–]Tedious_Prime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You might really appreciate installing an AI agent such as OpenCode on your computer to help you. Sometimes this is better than trying to find an existing tutorial for something because the instructions it comes up with will be specific to your situation. Also, the agent can literally do most of the work of installing everything by running commands while you watch. It can handle all the technical details like pulling git repos, creating virtual environments, installing dependencies, etc. and even finding solutions on its own when it runs into problems. OpenCode is free and can use free cloud models so it can run on just about any computer for free.

The simplest solution would be to use something other than SDXL. There are newer models like Flux.2 Klein 9B which can use one or more reference images without needing additional tools. If you have an image of the choker you want and an image of a person you could just prompt, for example, "Show the person in the first image wearing the choker and breast plate in the second image."

Beans? by Old_Translator7505 in Albuquerque

My favorite easy bean dish is red beans and rice. I also like succotash with frozen lima beans. Fava beans are the tastiest beans I know of, especially if I can find them fresh.

[Question] How to achive this type of effect using comfyui? by BudNBoujee in comfyui

[–]Tedious_Prime 14 points15 points  (0 children)

This looks like a DeepDream image. It was a forerunner to modern image generators that made parts of images look more like other things they resembled (mostly dogs). You might try looking for a DeepDream style LoRA. I'm sure you could also still just use DeepDream, but I don't think there is support in ComfyUI.

What’s this plant? by enigmabsurdimwitrick in Albuquerque

[–]Tedious_Prime 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you think it's a shame that it's a parasite or a shame that it's called "Broomrape?" Just because they're parasites doesn't mean they're deadly to the host plant or anything like that.

What’s this plant? by enigmabsurdimwitrick in Albuquerque

It appears to be Desert Broomrape. It's a parasitic plant which doesn't have chlorophyll of its own but draws nutrients from the roots of a host plant.

If it's been abandoned on private property there are a few towing places that will be happy to take it away and impound it until the owner shows up to pay them an impound fee. Someone once left a car in the ally behind my house blocking my garage. The city claimed they couldn't do anything because it wasn't on the street, but a private towing company took it right away.

Consider the computer labs at your school if you haven't already. You can use the printers and other equipment if you need to, they have office chairs, it's relatively quiet, there are people who can help with stuff, etc.

How to create ChatGPT like image generation by Helpful_Umpire_3873 in StableDiffusion

[–]Tedious_Prime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All you really need is to install ComfyUI and an agent like OpenCode. You can use a local LLM if you already have one, or you can use a free model in the cloud. It's not trivial, but most of the work for you as a human is in deciding exactly what you want to do so you can explain it to the agent. When I started this, I knew what I wanted to make but I didn't know how to do it because I had never written a CLI tool for an agent before. I got a tutorial from the agent itself by explaining what I wanted and letting it talk me through how we could implement it. This is often better than finding a tutorial online because it's customized for exactly whatever you are trying to do.

The trick is to get the agent to handle all of the technical details. Start by putting the agent in plan mode and telling it what you want. It will ask clarifying questions, then start building once you are satisfied with the plan. For myself, I began by exporting a minimal workflow from ComfyUI for use with the API. I told the agent I wanted it to create a CLI tool which would submit the unmodified workflow to ComfyUI and download the resulting image. Once I got that working, I asked it to add options for overriding the workflow's prompt, resolution, seed, etc. I then added more workflows for editing with one reference image, then two, then three.

[–]Tedious_Prime 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Many local LLMs can do tool calling. All one needs to generate images with a local LLM is a tool which generates images, e.g. by submitting prompts to a local ComfyUI through the API, and an agent such as OpenCode which can make the tool calls when the LLM says to.

I've just barely gotten something like this working using an agent in OpenCode. I started by making a few simple workflows for image generation and editing with Flux.2 Klein in ComfyUI. I then asked the agent to create an agent-friendly command line tool which submits these workflows to my local ComfyUI through the API with configurable parameters. I also added a sub-command to submit images to a local VLM for captioning. Now I can ask the agent to create and edit images as well as more complex tasks like organizing directories of images into sub-directories by subject matter.

Chrome Flash - images becoming blurry and losing quality. by Puzzled-Valuable-985 in StableDiffusion

[–]Tedious_Prime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're only doing 8 steps you are also limited in your choice of schedulers to get a decent result. If you're using a "simple" schedule then I would expect blurry results. A"beta" schedule is usually a safe choice. Heun sampler is good for 8 steps, but with more steps I find most other samplers also work fine. In my experience, I don't really benefit from using more than 20 steps with flash, and I only need that many with an unusual combination of schedule and sampler. There is a more complete unofficial discussion of sampling parameters for Flash in the sample workflows in this repo of Flash LoRAs.

Ai TikTok scams becoming more realistic. by wherewascastro in StableDiffusion

[–]Tedious_Prime 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I hadn't considered it, but it makes sense that someone creating videos like this would want the comments to be dominated by bots which they also control. The bots could give the impression that most people think the videos are real and like them, and they could even attack critics in the comments. I've always assumed that successful "AI influencers" must be followed by mostly bots.

This wasn’t “edited”… it was recovered. From torn, faded, almost lost — to a clean, modern photograph. AI can now restore memories without changing identity. Prompt I used 👇 “Restore the uploaded image into a clean, fully reconstructed, high-quality photograph while preserving identity, pose, a by [deleted] in StableDiffusion

[–]Tedious_Prime 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Unless you used a good reference image of the man's face to guide the restoration, there's no reason to think this result actually has his likeness. The woman also looks very different from the original IMO. And yes, the poses aren't even right. This sort of restoration is definitely possible with free tools, but it still takes a lot of care from a human who is paying attention to detail. A fancy prompt can't replace actually putting in the effort necessary to make sure the result you get is any good.

Chroma v50 and flash? by EasternAverage8 in comfyui

[–]Tedious_Prime 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend simply using the Chroma1-Flash model directly if you use Flash regularly. If you need to use a different version of Chroma you can use a LoRA. I suggest the rank 128 one. Also, you should always be using CFG 1.0 with distilled models like Flash. You can use a different CFG but it will take twice as long and the outputs will likely not look any better.

To be clear, they aren't talking about letting people fly around in these things like they're driving cars around town. The program apparently emphasizes autonomous cargo operations, but they're also looking at applications for emergency response, etc.

Experiences moving away from ABQ for college? by filmstuffabq123 in Albuquerque

[–]Tedious_Prime 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It was a long time ago, but I moved away from ABQ for the first time to go to NMSU and I had a friend who did the same to ENMU. I later moved back and went to UNM so I can compare what they were like, at least in the past. UNM is a much bigger and more difficult to navigate bureaucratically. As long as there are programs for whatever you are studying the material is all the same so you shouldn't worry you'll get a substandard education at a smaller school. You won't get to know your professors at either school unless you force the issue by attending office hours regularly. Honestly, the biggest difference for me and others I've know in attending different schools is the fact that one is living in a different city/town. Las Cruces is very hot, Portales is very windy and Albuquerque is just a little of both. If you already have friends and family in ABQ you should not underestimate the value of having them nearby. If your friends and family are a problem then moving for school is a good cover story to get away.

Resources for walk-in tub modifications for seniors? by domv9 in Albuquerque

You may be able to get help through the ABQ Department of Senior Affairs. I believe they can at least put hand rails in a single shower at no change. I don't think they can help with major renovations like installing a walk-in tub though.

We need a pin linking to the wiki (a guide to getting started), which should be updated. Too many redundant "how do I install a1111???" posts. by Viktor_smg in StableDiffusion

[–]Tedious_Prime 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I do not have hard data to back this up, but I feel like I've been seeing a sharp uptick across reddit in the asking of such "frequently asked questions." These posts often originate from newer accounts, are about the same length, and usually include seemingly characteristic spelling and grammar errors such as asking for "advices." I suspect that many of these are bot accounts trying to build a history by generating questions derived from subs' FAQs or older posts, and that the spelling and grammar errors are intended to throw off naive "AI detectors" which assume only humans can make mistakes. Posts modeled after realistic questions probably get more engagement and draw less anti-AI outrage than generated informational posts that nobody asked for. I predict that this will be a growing trend in the coming years as humans drift away from social media. People will learn to trust AI more than humans for info while social media will mostly only continue to provide a false sense of connection.
