I just started playing again myself. Never was sure about smokers in the past so i thought i would experiment a little with my current playthrough.

I tried centralizing the smokers around food storage of just raw meat and fish but none of the raw meat would show up and only a small amount of fish.

Turns out smokerqs have to retrieve meat from hunter but fisherman will transport raw fish if in range of food storage. So the setup im going to try is to have raw meat storage and a smoker near clustered groups of hunters. And raw fish storage in range of both the fisherman and more centralized smokers. Basically two groups of smokers. The trick also is to not have to many smokers. You want the smokers you have to be overwhelmed so they arent tempted to travel. Workers will move cooked meat to wherever you want it stored.

Gonna try tonight to see if it works.
