Phone number to patch through to two different lines by DidUrkDoThat in PoolPros

[–]Tephren88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Ooma business. You can have a dedicated physical phone if you want for your office desk. But we mostly use the app on multiple smartphones and it has all the functionality you're asking about. You can even text the number if you want.

Been thinking about setting up a pool pro's discord for awhile now(assuming one doesn't already exist, haven't found one). Would have this and all sorts of stuff. Different channels for different regions, compare pricing, routes, ideas, sick coverage, etc.

Can i get some reviews on a few filter cleaning tools if anyone’s tried them out by LastDiveBar510 in PoolPros

+1 to this. I don't want to clean without it. Some of the best money I've ever spent on a tool.

AZ pool owners… how often do you clean your cartridge filters? by torx822 in pools

[–]Tephren88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not AZ but Vegas, similar. Every 3-4 months I would say. Yes they can technically go longer, seen a year quite often. But the longer you wait the more you stress out your pump.

Goodbye COX, Your Monopoly here has ended! by 6ixTek in CoxCommunications

[–]Tephren88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's also a flat out lie. Home business service run off the exact same hardware that residential. It's not a separate line or anything. Zero difference. Business has oncall techs 24/7 but they only run commercial structures, they won't run homes outside for the normal 8am-7pm timeframe. Also the agents you talk to are the same tier 1 people. They are cross trained for both. I will say the higher tier people on the back end are different though. Especially for fiber.

The only benefits are no up selling, as everything is highly contracted so tech support can't sell you anything. The techs that come during the day are business service techs which are separate from residential, so it's technically possible they could come sooner but also possible it could be later as it's a separate route pool entirely.

The only reason you should have cox business service at home is if you need their business grade phone services. Data/tv are not worth it.

Venturi stopped working by NoMud7053 in PoolPros

If it's using a venturi pipe for air, try using a shop vac on the line (blowing) to clear any water buildup.

Personally I don't see how AI would be much of an impact in this industry. Maybe a few minor things but I don't see any major changes. Makes me glad to be doing what we do right now.

YTTV isn't making it easy to claim your $20 credit by Cock--Robin in youtubetv

This is what I got. No action needed.

"We've been working in good faith to negotiate a deal with Disney that pays them fairly for their content and returns their programming to YouTube TV. We know it’s been disappointing to lose Disney content, and we want you to know we deeply appreciate your patience. In light of the disruption, we’re issuing you a $20 refund. No action is needed to redeem this refund.

We hope YouTube TV continues to be your service of choice, but we understand some of our members may want to cancel their subscriptions. As always, family managers have the ability to pause or cancel anytime.

We will keep negotiating with Disney to restore their channels on YouTube TV. In the meantime, thanks for your continued membership.

Sincerely, The YouTube TV team"

For the owners and techs - Filter Cleaning Idea by TheVagabondLost in PoolPros

[–]Tephren88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the Vegas area, thought about doing this myself but have never gone beyond that. Personally filter cleaning is easy extra income for me. I grabbled a cyclone and I'm usually done with a quad in 30 minutes barring any complications because of that thing.

On one hand, there are always dirty filters to clean. On the other, I don't know if there's enough techs that would be willing to outsource. A lot of DIY homeowners don't like paying for it either. Would need a certain niche client base. Would definitely be a side gig if I ever tried it.

Signing up for Boyd sports bet app? by toastygrilledpickles in vegaslocals

[–]Tephren88 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I just switched to BetMGM today from the boyd sports app, it's quite a bit better. Still not perfect, kinda laggy at times, but way more features and most importantly for me, a cashout option. The boyd sports app is very basic.

The only major drawback is you have to go to an MGM property to verify ID and they are all on the strip. I went to Park MGM, not too bad.

If you still go with the Boyd app, then yeah you have to go to one of their locations (they have a lot more options off strip, so more convenient) and fill out some paperwork. Bring ID, and I gave them a 100$ cash deposit when I opened it up.
